Few people risk unpopularity when commenting on something as iconic to economic prosperity as the car. Precisely why, when one of the best-known consultants and writers on the automobile industry seeks to " finish off the car," you have to sit up and take notice.
...
"The car is responsible for much of the pollution that is a cause of global warming. We therefore need to reduce our dependence on the automobile as well as two/three-wheelers, buses and trucks to address the world's environmental problems. Even if it takes 20 or 30 years for us to reduce our dependence on these products to minimal levels, we need to start thinking about how we approach that now. We can take some steps quickly.

I think what they do is say that the fuel provides the carbon part, and the air provides the oxygen part. So when one ounce of fuel is burned, it combines with the ambient oxygen to produce 75 million tons of planet killing CO2.

It's rare to find a place on the web where people disagree and still have civil discourse. Not that FR doesn't have its share of trolls and idiots, but you get that with any society. The tolerance for them is pretty low.
And unlike DU and other spots, every 3rd word doesn't start with 'F'. I tell ya, FR is a pleasant place to be.
Maybe we could throw all these enviromental-moonbats onto the chinese coal fires and put those bad boys out. This would take care of two problems.
1) CO2 from Chinese coal fires
2) CO2 being emmited from the word-holes of moonbats!
Exactly what Al Gore could use.
I tell myself: "I get my health club workout for free," when I carry laundry up and downstairs and park at the distant end of parking lots and carry my mother's shower bench into the bathroom from outside the house.
It is a great way to look at life's more difficult chores.
