Americans give both President Bush and the Congress failing marks on their handling of immigration, according to a new UPI/Zogby poll.
The Zogby Interactive poll of 8,300 adults nationwide finds just 3 percent of Americans viewing Congress's handling of the immigration issue in favorable terms, while 9 percent say the same of the president - even as respondents in the survey rated it the second most important issue facing the country, after the war in Iraq.
As the U.S. Senate prepares to vote on an immigration reform bill in Washington, Americans said they take a dim view of that bill, with just 38 percent holding a favorable view of the legislation. The poll also suggests that those most favorably-disposed toward the bill are those who view guest worker programs and a pathway to citizenship for those now in the country illegally as the most important aspects of the immigration debate.
The Internet survey, conducted June 15-18, 2007, included 8,300 U.S. adults and carries a margin of error of +/- 1.1 percentage points, and was sponsored by United Press International.

3 and 9%!! Can you believe those numbers? And coming from Zogby?! But I thought that the American people (minus us rednecks, xenophobes, bigots, militia members and assorted other racists)were for this "Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill" or as we call it here:Amnesty. I don't understand...

with just 38 percent holding a favorable view of the legislation. The poll also suggests that those most favorably-disposed toward the bill are those who view ...... a pathway to citizenship as the most important aspects of the immigration debateWhy will no one say out loud that this is a blatant coup d'etat to forever tilt the country to the left with 20 million more 'rats? That 38% is the hardcore 'rat base. They salivate at the thought of being the permanent ruling party.

Did we really need Zogby to do a poll over this?

This WILL be political suicide for most members of the Senate if they pass it. Are they that naive out there that they can’t see this? They sure all get their panties up in bundles when the Iraq polls drop a little. Why do these polls mean nothing to them?

If Tony Snow does one more round of talk show interviews, we might see it hit ZERO percent.

Why do you think Zogby is publishing this poll.
It’s not to help the GOP, but to WARN democratic supporters.
i.e Senators.
If Zogby says it’s bad...it’s got to be REAL BAD>

I have never seen numbers this low. That is truly amazing. Probably you could get higher numbers by asking, “Are you favorably disposed towards Zack Nguyen?”

I attended a meeting yesterday having to do with programs for seniors in the community. It is filled with libs and wanta be libs and I was amazed when I walked in, the only conversation was about the immigration bill and how bad it is and what it will do to the community. Seems the libs figure their bull may get gored and they aren’t happy. People are upset, very upset about this.
