There does seem to be a lot left out of the story.

Government Employees with "take-home" government vehicles are usually allowed to, say, stop for groceries on the way home.

Or the ball game, to dinner, visiting etc.

Hey, it's all on the stupid tax payers, so no biggy.

Here's another conservative who lives in Los Angeles. It is unlikely you will recognize him, however.

Looks a lot like Phil Keaggy.

I think I need to correct some of your errors. Earlier in this thread you stated that Los Angeles is a city of 9 Million people.

Not exactly true. It is closer to about 3.5 Million, with about 1 million of them being illegal aliens.

You also claimed that Bob Hope was an L.A. Guy, but he wasn't. He's a Toluca Lake, guy and last time I looked, Toluca Lake was in... Toluca Lake.

I think you need to learn a little more about the city you are defending. Los Angeles was a once great city. It is now a liberal cesspool.

Los Angeles COUNTY has about 9 million people, but I have not criticized Los Angeles County. My posts have been directed at the City of Los Angeles. But since you don't know the difference between the City of Los Angeles and the County of Los Angeles, then I don't suppose I am going to accomplish anything by continuing our conversation.

I will leave where I left off. The People of Los Angeles deserve the crappy government they have because the People of Los Angeles have chosen the leaders that they have.

I apologize. It looks as if Toluca Lake may be within the city limits of Los Angeles.

But of course those people still deserve the lousy Government they have because they have not petitioned to be separated from the City of Los Angeles.

Toluca Lake is in the City of LA.

That's too bad for them

City of LA now has 4 million.

And I suspect that half of them are here illegally.

........Delgadillo's wife was driving with an invalid license, and was not authorized to drive government-issued cars. Delgadillo may have filed a false accident report. He may have claimed he was driving and submitted the report to the city for repair......he may have filed a claim for insurance he was not entitled to......

So many crimes here: filing false official government documents, unauthorized use of a govt vehicle, filing false insurance claims, pocketing insurance monies under false pretenses........to name a few.

Cali residents should contact the appropriate agencies:

(1) Every state should have an insurance fraud unit.

(2) The state's AG's office should also have an Insurance Fraud Prosecutor.

(3) As a public official, Delgadillo probably has to be bonded to indemnify the public against government fraud----these acts would seriously impair his ability to be bonded.

(4) The wife might also have gotten unauthorized state gas fill-ups and car repairs, and might have used gov't credit cards fraudulently.

(5) If Delgadillo's pay package includes travel reimbursement, he might have (a) filed fraudulent applications that included his wife's travel expenses, or, (b) fraudulently filed for travel expenses he had already been paid for.

(6) Delgadillo's actions violated legal ethics and could impact his ability to practice law.

I have a feeling that in a place like Los Angeles, these kinds of crimes and this kind of corruption is simply laughed off. We shall see, but I wouldn’t expect much. Sorry.

If enough people voiced their concerns to enough agencies-—something’s gotta stick.

I agree. It sounds like this DA may have made a real mess for himself.

That's a good list, Liz. If he has been getting away with this for years, I wonder what else he has done. Dishonesty doesn't usually travel by itself.

"Earlier this month, Delgadillo filed a petition questioning whether Sheriff Lee Baca should be held in contempt of court for abruptly releasing Paris Hilton from jail early.

My guess is that Mr. Delgadillo may have filed a false accident report. He may have claimed he was driving and submitted the report to the city for repair, but that somehow the cat got out of the bag."

My guess is that the LA County Sheriff was just leveling the playing field.

And let’s not forget “cover-up”-—that’s a crime even his “progressive” liberal constituents won’t let him get away with.

Delgadillo admits wife drove city SUV

L.A. city attorney had refused to discuss who was driving it during a 2004 accident. The vehicle was repaired at taxpayer expense.
By Matt Lait, Times Staff Writer
June 19, 2007

After days of dodging questions, Los Angeles City Atty. Rocky Delgadillo acknowledged Monday that his wife was driving his city-owned SUV with a suspended license when it was damaged in a 2004 accident and later repaired at taxpayer expense.

At a City Hall news conference, Delgadillo said he should have come forward immediately last week when a Times report raised questions about the accident. But, he said, he stalled because he was trying to protect his family from the "public eye." He characterized his conduct as a breach of "the public trust."

"I mishandled the situation, and I apologize," he said. "I take full responsibility."

But even after his news conference, Delgadillo's staff worked into the evening to correct misstatements that the city attorney had made.

Among the main clarifications:

•  Despite initially denying that he drove without the automobile insurance required of all California drivers, Delgadillo actually was an uninsured motorist from June 2005 to July 2006.

•  And, contrary to his assertion that his wife was insured when she left the scene of a separate accident in 2004 involving the couple's jointly registered personal car, she was, in fact, also uninsured.

"Due to the confusing nature of the facts in this situation, I misspoke today," Delgadillo said in a statement released after meeting with reporters.

The revelations about the Delgadillos' driving records and use of city property came more than a week after the city attorney had refused to discuss the accident involving his city-owned GMC Yukon.

At the news conference, Delgadillo said he had been attending the Democratic National Convention in Boston when his wife used his SUV to go see her doctor because their personal car had broken down. He said she damaged the rear end backing the SUV into a pole in the parking lot at her doctor's office. ~snip

As gallant as was this post:

Is as loathesome was this comment and your post at 63:
“IMO, the people of the City of Los Angeles, deserve to be screwed.”

That is entirely unworthy and uncalled for. That is not empathizing with the downtrodden who are victimized by injustice and evil.

Rather than defending and protecting good, decent people disenfranchised by wholesale vote fraud and corruption, it scorns them.

Please remedy good repute and apologize forthwith.

All: Friendly fire....ISN’T.

Sincere regards.

If I let someone use my company car, I would get fired, because that opens up the company to all manner of liability possibilities. This guy should lose his job, too.

Sorry, but I will not back down from my statement. The "people" of the City of Los Angeles deserve to be screwed.

It is a collective statement. In a democratic republic you get the government you deserve. The people of Los Angeles have chosen their destiny by voting in the likes of Tony Villarr and Rocky Delgadillo. They are reaping the whirlwind.

The people of the United States deserved Bill Clinton for 8 years because the people of the United States were more concerned with "The economy stupid" than they were with honesty and ethics. We deserved to be screwed.

If Hillary is elected in 2008, then we, as a nation, deserve to be screwed. And we will be.

Rather than defending and protecting good, decent people disenfranchised by wholesale vote fraud and corruption, it scorns them.

Los Angeles' elected officials were voted in by strong enough majorities that it cannot be explained by voter fraud. This is what the people of Los Angeles really want. And as far as corruption, this is also what the people of Los Angeles really want. This is what they got. This is what they deserved.

In any democracy the people get the government they want and they get the government they deserve. There are remedies, but the people of Los Angeles have not been screwed over enough by their elected officials to do anything about it. I doubt they ever will.

Dollars to donuts Delgadillo trumped up the "doctor" cover story to make him and his wife look sympathetic.

Very easy to prove it's a lie, and if proved the---that alone could be grounds for dismissal. Not to mention ancillary charges of:

insurance fraud,
government fraud,
filing false accident reports,
falsely claiming he was driving,
submitting false reports for repairs,
filing false claims for insurance he was not entitled to,
pocketing insurance monies under false pretenses,
filing false official government documents,
unauthorized use of a govt vehicle
colluding to cover-up wrong-doing.......to name a few.
