Ancient Tomb Found in Mexico Reveals Mass Child Sacrifice (At least they didn't throw theirs away?)
National Geographic ^ | 6-12-07 | Kelly Hearn

Construction crews unearthed the burial chamber this spring near the town of Tula, the ancient Toltec capital, 50 miles (80 kilometers) north of Mexico City (see Mexico map).

The chamber contained 24 skeletons of children believed to have been sacrificed between A.D. 950 and 1150, according to Luis Gamboa, an archaeologist at Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History.

All but one of the children were between 5 to 15 years of age, and they were likely killed as an offering to the Toltec rain god Tlaloc, Gamboa said.

The Toltec, a pre-Aztec civilization that thrived from the 10th to 12th

Nowadays we hear how evil the Spanish colonization was. I’m sure they weren’t nice, but they did get them to stop sacrificing children.

“Nowadays we hear how evil the Spanish colonization was.”

Exactly.

We can’t judge other cultures, even if they were cannibals, child sacrificers, or whatever.

Just another “choice”.

Mexico is 5,000 years of evil history and its only current success is creating one of the most corrupt governments on the planet.

Coming to a city council near you.

I mean, if you think about it, the people that came to this country on the Mayflower, think about their history- a history to be proud of. And even they had problems. Imagine if your ancestors were killing babies to bring rain and eating hearts.

We are so doomed.

If only the evil white/Christian men didn’t come and try to impose their values on the native american way of life...things would be so much better for them.

when I was growing up, we went on tours of the Missions in Southern California, and Father Serra was a hero (he should be). Today, those missions are seen as slave factories and the men who started them genocidal maniacs.

“Evidence suggests the children sacrificed to Tlaloc were in very poor health when they died and that the sacrifices were not punitive”

Late term abortions???

What amazes me is how astounded liberals are when they find out that they are not the only barbarians to have existed and how shocked they are at the brutal nature of their ancestors while at the same time fluffing up their own egos with lies of how "human" they think they are.

You folks may of may not like Savage but he hits the nail on the head when he says, "Liberalism is a mental disorder."

We can’t judge other cultures, even if they were cannibals, child sacrificers, or whatever.

We can, however, judge the early modern Spanish, English, etc. to be irredeemably wicked.

Yes, what was that thread about the Mexica Movement — they are against the European-established borders in the Western Hemisphere? They want the ancient designation for their people and they want all borders removed.

I believe that Africa would have been much better off remaining under their European colonizers. Kid’s in the Americas are better off with borders and sovereign states.

My heart warmed a bit in the favor of the European invaders when I
saw the PBS production “Conquistadors” (link below).

The narrator/host Michael Wood related Montazuma (sp?) took Cortez and
some of his party up to the chamber atop a pyramid where he happily
regaled them with how making bloody human sacrifices had to be done
to satisfy the sun-god and that it worked really well!

The more Montezuma tried to sell his great idea, the angrier Cortez’s
party got.

As I watched/listened, I felt that Cortez must have felt a bit like
I did in the hours immediately after 9-11.

Eugenics.

It’s okay as long as you aren’t white Europeans.

Cortes did not want to destroy Tenochtitlan, he wanted to steal it.

The Aztecs, however, refused to surrender and to win Cortez was obliged to destroy the city.

The vast majority of Aztecs in Tenochtitlan died of starvation and various recently-introduced diseases, notably smallpox, not directly by Spanish violence.

95% or more of the beseigers were other Indians, taking the opportunity to revenge themselves on the Aztecs. If the Aztecs had built an empire based on something other than complete exploitation and humiliation of their subjects, Cortez would have found conquest a lot more difficult. What goes around and all that.
