Bush says Kosovo will get independence

TIRANA (Reuters) - President George W. Bush said on Sunday the United Nations should grant independence quickly to the breakaway Serbian province of Kosovo, and if Russia continued to block it the West would act.

"At some point in time, sooner rather than later, you've got to say enough is enough, Kosovo is independent," he told a news conference on the first visit by a U.S. president to Albania.

Bush said he was "worried about expectations not being met" in Kosovo, where 90 percent of the population are ethnic Albanians demanding independence from Serbia and where NATO leads a peacekeeping force of 17,000 troops.

He said Washington would continue to seek a solution through the United Nations but "if it is apparent that (an agreement) is not going to happen in a relatively quick period of time, in my judgment, we need to put forward the resolution. Hence, deadline," Bush said.

This is wrong on many levels, but it should give great hope and encouragement to those whose end goal is Amexica in the US Southwest.

Just change the names and they can read his own speeches back to him.

I did enjoy the allusion to "...expectations not being met":
We've been seeing a lot of that lately.

My thought was “Is he (expletive) crazy?”

Not a good idea, at all.

... Kosovo, where 90 percent of the population are ethnic Albanians ...

And just how did Kosovo become 90% Ethnic Albanians? Why, by the process of illegal immigration, capped by the might of the United States Government.

I guess we're fortunate that nothing like this is going an anywhere closer to home. < /sarc>

Kosovo independent? Just what Europe needs, a non-viable mini-state dominated a militant Islamists. Didn’t we just invade Iraq to eliminate a terrorists safe-haven? Now we are actively supporting the creation on another? Starting to think the Left Hand doesn’t know what the Right Hand is doing over at the WH.

Why are you so surprised? Most of us who have been following this aren’t. Bush supported Clinton’s policy in Kosovo and has continued it consistently as president.

For those who might not remember as currrent events: Albania was Red China’s main ally in Europe. Albania was hardline Communist, beyond China, even beyond what N Kor is.

This would be like if say a County or such ‘broke’ away from the usa (and harbored teerrorists)! Bush has NO authority in Serbia, and should stick his nose elsewhere.

Bush says illegals will gain independence as he seeks to revive the immigration bill.

Deed Arizona, Texas, California, Colorado, New Mexico (except the Gadsen Purchase), Wyoming, over to Vincente Fox now and avoid hassle later on.

Obviously, the answer to your question is yes.

If you are not for us, you are against us. Applying this to the current state of the White House, it looks as if it has changed sides.

Congress changed sides last November, the White House has changed sides — and they both have approval ratings in the 30s.

I followed the “Yugoslav Wars of the 90’s” VERY closely: it is true: the SERBS (while they aren’t innocent) are Christian (and do not promulagate radical Islam like the Kosovars and Bosniac Muslims). In fact many after fighting in Bosnia later went to (and this includes those involved in Kosovo) MACEDONIA and created a muslim/terrorist war there for a few years! WE picked the wrong side (not that our military there still shouldn’t be honored: Cause they should!): Clinton led the way: the serbs were Christian, and Clinton lead us down the wrong horse, plus without these wars playing out like they did, likely we wouldn’t be in the situatioin with Russia we are today..! IMO. Yes I am lean “isolation” but that doesn’t make me a total isolationist, I recognize sometimes we must venture into the world to confron threats: I hate police actions for the Armed forces.. (BTW I still support the war in iraq, but not the way it was fought under Bush)..WE COULD WIN THAT THING if we really wanted to.

We are in agreement. Bush has, and Clinton had, no right to interfere in Kosovo. What we have now is a looming and very bloody civil war in Serbia, over Kosovo. If we have the presence of mind, as a nation, to back away from Kosovo, the Serbs will take care of the muslim problem there, with enthusiasm, and reclaim their land. Other Europeans don’t have the stomach to do anything but complain about it.

How could I forget the UN attempting to enter Macedonia and getting rocks and bottles thrown at them. The people knew exactly what the UN would accomplish (protection of islamists) and they would have none of that.

Clinton's (Kosovo) policy was ill-conceived & should be abandoned. Bush is not bound to any particular policy just because it was the policy of his predecessor -- though I do believe, in general, a set policy should not be discarded lightly. Does anybody believe that a Hillary presidency would not result in a large number of policy reversals?

I'm not critical of anything you said. These are just rhetorical questions.
