okay, who running for President has had more experience in dealing with terrorist?? Actually, while I'd choose Rudy over Gilmore any day, Jim Gilmore can make that claim as well or better than Rudy.
He dealt with the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon and chaired the Commission on Domestic Terrorism.
To: garv
Exactly, he did nothing to stop the terrorists, no body could have, all he dealt with was the aftermath of a tragedy.

WHo put NYC’s command bunker in the WTC, which had already been attacked?
Rudy.

Ive seen a lot of posts lately saying that Rudy simply responded on Sept. 11 and didnt really do anything but hold news conferences and attend funerals. Im going to say up front that I am a Fredhead and really want him to get in. I dont agree with Rudy on a host of issues and completely agree with every conservative here that he has little credibility on most of the plank issues. But.....as someone who was in NYC on that day, who had family in Tower 3 and workmates in Tower 2 (one who was lost), the city was a fright zone in the days following the attack and he, coupled with Bushs visit, were the glue that held one of most densely populated cities in the country together. Its easy to say six years later that he was simply holding pressers and hugging relatives of the deceased, but the fact is that the financial capital of the world shut down for a week, the city was completely on egde and no one knew what was going to come next. He did a miraculous job of bringing the city back inside a week, coordinating the security (which was tight and expansive) and making sure everyone knew what was going on at all times. Theres a lot to be said for that. I dont propose that its enough to crown him leader, but I dont think it should be viewed as something very ordinary. Worth repeating. Some forget there were millions in NYC that day and not only were there bodies to deal with but bridges and tunnels to control, all of the financial district to evacuate and shock and panic everywhere. One would have to understand NYC to recognize the monumental task Rudy faced. Wall Street was reopened in days restoring confidence and calm to NY and the nation. I don't care how much folks hate Rudy but his management skills were clearly extraordinary. I know I'll be flamed--but i witnessed it up close and personal. Not many mayors I know of who could have accomplished what Rudy did.

What Giuliani never mentions is that he actually had to deal with one pre-9/11 act of terrorism in New York City -- the 1997 mass shooting on the observation deck of the Empire State Building by a Palestinian loser.
His response to that attack was to blame the freaking gun . . . and to use the incident as a prop in his anti-gun crusade.
"Tough on terrorism," my @ss.

The fact that he has appeared in public dressed as a woman must mean we all need to cross dress.

I think some here allow their politics to override reality, the same thing we accuse the Democrats of daily.
Reject Rudy on his policies and social views as they pertain to the party’s planks, completely understood. Make light of what he accomplished on possibly the most fateful day in our nation’s history and the soon after because of that is utterly mindless and blind.
To: atomicpossum
Uh, Rudy, baby-- this plot was broken up, and you're not President. Not only that, but several of the plotters were illegal aliens who were pulled over many times for traffic stops, but did not have their status reported to the INS because the stops happened in sanctuary cities - a policy Rudy kept in place for NYC despite a federal court order to stop it.
So this one blows right up in his face.

Duncan Hunter (who I'm not voting for)? Vietnam war hero. One of only two or three congressmen with a son/daughter in Iraq. Chairman of the house armed services committee for years. Representative of one of the biggest military districts in the country.
What the hell did Giuliani do? Give a few feel-good speeches? That's experience?

People have very short memories. I disagree with Rudy on many things, but getting the world's largest city back on its feet so quickly was nothing short of a miracle. The speedy cooperation of all the city's agencies and the Federal Government's bureaus didn't happen by accident...it was Rudy's leadership.

#58 LMAO!
You should add to that...
