Well I know that Guiliani partners LLC in 2003, at the behest of an influential Mexican National named Carlos Slim, on behalf of the government of Mexico, completed a long and costly contract for the government of Mexico, which implemented “every element of the plan” to reduce skyrocketing crime and solve the violent social breaches which have caused many of the middle class citizens in Mexico to feel they are enbatteled and cut off from civilization.

Four years on, how IS that plan coming along, by the way?

The “obvious” terrorism target in NYC would have been the WTC, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, Rockefeller Center, the Statue of Liberty and the NYSE. Putting the command center where any of these buildings could collapse on it was insane, especially after the architect of the Twin Towers testified that had the bombs been places closer to the foundation in the first bombing, the tower would have collapsed. Also, in the first WTC bombing, it was seen that evacuation would be critical, no plan we developed to address this.

But, putting aside your “Monday morning quarterbacking” statement, other than suggesting his corrupt cohort Kerik as Secretary of Homeland Security, what has Rudy done SINCE 9/11 that proves he is strong on terrorism?

How does being mayor during 9/11 give Rootie any experience in dealing with terrorists? Being mayor of a city that was attacked doesn’t give somebody experience in “dealing” with terrorists. It merely gives experience in cleaning up after them.

Hmmmmm, even assuming he is right, do I want a guy who will prevent the killing of a few thousand Americans every few years, while at the same time advocating the infanticide of several million unborn during that same time period?

Sorry Rudy. I don’t think so.

What GOP candidate proposes to be soft on terrorism?

Ron Paul.

Giuliani has done nothing special with regards to terrorism, other than be mayor when his city was attacked. Those other candidates were representatives, senators, etc. when their country was attacked, so what’s so special about him?

Rudy has done nothing and the fact still remains that he is a bleeding-heart liberal in every area except national security.

Yep, Rudy still is not bothered by the fact that more Americans are killed in abortuaries EVERY SINGLE DAY than died on 9/11.

"I've had the most experience dealing with terrorism," Giuliani said, citing his experience as a federal prosecutor and later as mayor of New York City, where he served during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

He's certainly had the most experience being the victim of terrorism and cleaning up after terrorism has struck and has been properly lauded for his actions there. He certainly did a lot to reduce crime, generally both as Mayor and previously as US DA, but terrorism specifically I'm not so sure about. Perhaps I'm forgetting something, but I don't recall terrorism, being conducted or prevented, in NYC during his terms other than 911. He was out of office in the first Twin Towers bombing. The prevented tube attacks were after he'd left office. He had no jurisdiction to prevent 911, as the perps were only in his air space and the NYPD doesn't have SAMs or fighters, so I don't ding him for not stopping it. Skill and compassion dealing with the aftermath of an atrocity are laudable and useful, but I trade them in a minute for skill in preventing said atrocity. All the wonderful "feel good" things Rudy did after 911 may be sufficient Presidential qualifications... for Democrats. As a thinking Republican I also demand "do good" qualifications and don't count any points for victim status. Rather than waving a torn flag he should be pointing out NYPD reforms he made, if any, that helped in stopping this JFK attack and in stopping the earlier planned attack on the tubes. That would be significant, but I've not seen coverage of such. As CEO of a large internationally oriented city I'm sure he's dealt with a variety of security issues. Governors of large states, like MA, VA, WI will also have dealt with security issues from an executive vantage point, whereas the experience of Senators and Congressmen is necessarily different although not necessarily inconsequential.

To Mr. Guiliani: There is a significant difference between responding to a terrorist act and acting to prevent one. You did a nice job in marshaling resources to handle the results of the 9/11 attack on New York. But I've yet to hear what you would do to prevent a recurrence. Would you enforce border security? Deport illegals from suspect countries? Support the Patriot Act so that we can continue to infiltrate and expose al Qaeda' s US operations, including the mosques and madrassas where they are known to operate? Commit to winning the war in Iraq, regardless of the cost?

We also need secure borders and enforced immigrations laws....

Guiliani is really no better than President Bush. What good is being on the offensive if the country is under invasion...and Bush wants an immigration bill that will exponentially increase that invasion...and all 'tough' Rudy has to say about that is 'we need ID cards'!

I'm in the Romney camp right now, but if he doesn't elaborate on his first step of 'securing the borders', I will lean towards Tancredo or Paul. Same goes for Fred. They both are trying to walk a fine line of PC, too gutless to go full boar on 'securing the border'.

Unless Romney proposes a tangible plan to fully secure the border, I'll vote for Tancredo or Paul. If Fred proposes a tangible plan, I'll vote for him. I'm not buying this PC 'secure our borders' crap anymore. The question is 'How?', and do you have the guts to lead on this issue by calling for a 2,000 miles fence and/or wall?

There are a lot of people like me who understand that the country won't be worth saving if this immigration bill passes...politics will just become entertainment at that point...while Rome burns.

“okay, who running for President has had more experience in dealing with terrorist??

McCain??? Ron Paul?? Tancrado??”

Duncan Hunter.

He authored the bill which the president signed into law to build a fence across Arizona, New Mexico & Texas.

Around 150,000 OTMs (Other Than Mexicans) are crossing the Mexican border, because it is a joke, and some of the people are Middle Easterners, from Communist China, etc.

On the other hand Rudy has a pro-ILLEGAL immigration history.

You did a nice job in marshaling resources to handle the results of the 9/11 attack on New York.

The resources for NYC post-9/11 were going to be provided no matter who was president, which party controlled Congress or who was mayor.

Rudy happened to be in England when they had a serious terrorist attack.

Maybe Rudy should be Queen of England.

I have to give the man his due: it was the mayor’s job to coordinate the emergency response units as well as getting city departments to work effectively with Federal agencies, and he did a pretty good job, while keeping his wits about him. Guiliani did a better-than-creditable job under very tough circumstances, and he deserves praise for it. This doesn’t mean he deserves to be President, though: not by a long shot. Presidents cannot afford to be purely reactive.

I think you forgot a few targets.

Inside NYC - Grand Central and Penn Stations, the entire subway system, the Lincoln and Holland tunnels, all of the bridges, the piers on the westside.

Outside NYC - JFK and LaGuardia airports, any of the water waystations in the Bronx.

I’m not exactly sure how to address your last question considering he was not in any official capacity to really do anything about it. He’s consulted with foreign governments to promote better proactive responses if that counts, although I wouldn’t hang my hat on it.

If that were the voting criteria, what a candidate has done to better protect us since 9/11, I don’t think anyone outside of Cheney is really qualified.

The headline made me think that Rudy had proved the other candidates were somehow tied to Lee Harvey Oswald...
