'Surrender monkeys' protest Pelosi's stance on war

SAN FRANCISCO -- Monkeys waving white flags joined protesters outside the district office of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in San Francisco today to speak out against the Democratic leader's support for measures that organizers say undercuts the mission of the troops in Iraq.

"April" the monkey waves a white flag in front of the San Francisco Federal Building, which houses the offices of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Sherry Perussina of Danville holds a photo of her son, Michael, 21, who is preparing to return to Iraq for a second tour.

A protester holds a sign depicting the targets of the rally, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Ron Konopask,a veteran from San Francisco, joins the group in front of the Federal Building for the protest.

"Jake" the monkey makes his way around the protest in front of the Federal Building with his trainer Chris Edrington.

The new leader has to prove himself better than the former ones before I'll stop the jokes and boycott!

In the interests of accuracy, those are Chimpanzees, not monkeys. But so are ones in the Reid/Pelosi "Surrender Monkey" poster.
