The Presidency: Years from now, pundits and academics will surely wonder why President Bush's greatest achievement his stewardship of the economy got so little notice during his time in office. Yet that's how it is.
--snip--
Since the last round of cuts in 2003, we've had the quietest, and most significant, boom in wealth, income and profits in our history.

This is the issue which most clearly shows the bias of the MSM. I clearly remember when the economy and stock market was doing well under Clinton the media celebrated.
They are not going to give President Bush credit for anything. They hate him and will lead an attempt to impeach him before the next election.
ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, PBS, NPR are all too closely associated with the DNC. Their people come in to work and check their fax machines for the new DNC talking points.
Listeneing to NPR is like listening to a sophisticated Air America...they hit the Dem agenda in EVERY news broadcast. So does MSNBC.
It is sickening.

"George W. Bush's economic miracle is both real and sustainable. Too bad he won't get credit for it until the current generation of biased journalists and academics has retired ... died (and have reared no progeny)."Even when trying to be truthful, reporters still can't come all the way over.

If the economy is all that is keeping Bush afloat, then his record on illegal immigration is going to sink him.

Note to Know Nothings. Contrary to your feverish hysteric imaginings the vast bulk of the American people DO NOT care about your rabid xenophobia. MOST Americans only care about the illegals in regards to how it effects their personal pocket book. So rather then mindlessly try to twist EVERY thread into another mindless rant about your pet phobia, how about you all stick to the TOPIC of the threads?

[...Years from now, pundits and academics will surely wonder...]
They know right now but they will wait years before they admit it. I really don’t how anyone, with one gray cell left in their brain, can’t see the influence of the propagandist of the media and the democrat party.
The founding fathers were geniuses in the design of the Constitution but, in their love of this country, couldn't’t conceive that one day we would lose this Republic because we had a ‘free press’ that turned into a vast propaganda machine.

The economy is great and has been for nearly the entire Bush Presidency. Part of the problem is that a very, very large percentage of wealth is accruing to the wealthiest. This is because of the nature of globalization which is rewarding skilled labor and capital and punishing unskilled and even semi-skilled labor. That is because there is a huge surplus of unskilled labor coming onto the market and a giant, unfilled demand for skilled labor. Since the wealthiest also tend to be the best educated as well as (by defintion) possesses the most capital, they will benefit most from such a situation.
The problem is that this rising tide is not raising all boats.
It is a very real thing that wealth disparity in the US is at one of its highest points ever. This is only a problem if people perceive it to be a problem.
It is more of a problem if the wealthiest are making $500,000 a year and the poorest $500 (like in Brazil). In the US they are still making $25000 and even the poorest are rich compared to middle classes in many developing countries - so the disparity is not causing massive social concern . . yetp>
However this is something to pay close attention to on the part of conservatives. Because, with this disparity demands for wealth redistribution will grow. If enough people are unhappy they will vote in RATS and the RATS will deliver some of what they want while amassing and centralizing power. And we all know that redistributing wealth, is really just redistributing poverty. So the question is, when do we know things are too far out of balance and what should be done to alter it?

Agreed. By the way I had heard a rumor that Rupert Murdoch was buying Reuters - anyone know if this is true? If true, this would be significant in the propaganda war tactics.

That's nice that your opponents know nothing, that you speak for most Americans, and that they understand the immigration issue to be xenophobia.
Clearly, you're wrong on all counts. Most people (polls say +80%) know that being over run by often violent outsiders is neither natural nor normal. It's certainly not sustainable, and it is criminal.
It's none of the things you said in your post. It has also driven wages down in any number of industries, and left economists relying on "discouraged workers" (when they just announce that 300,000 Americans don't need work anymore, as they did on this last week's employment report) to keep unemployment down and keep certain appearances looking rosy.

Of course Bush hatred is a big part of it but that’s not all.
A big part of it is that the media business has been poor. Viewership and subscriptions and ad placements have been down for years now.
Reporters have been negative about the economy due to their own industry’s failings. If your own world sucks, it’s hard to be optomistic about other’s.

My personal opinion is, if someone wants to discuss illegal immigration on every thread they come across, they should . . . but in this case, they should explain why our economy is doing so well (in specific regard to the measures IBD uses) in spite of it.

Ah! But the NYT found a pottery factory in South Dakota that is loosing money, so we have to focus all our interest on that. Bill Clinton, may he be blessed, didn’t have stories about suffering pottery factories.

Here in Michigan a significant number of citizens believe that Michigan’s one state depression, including the nation’s highest unemployment rate, is Bush’s fault.
This, of course, raises the question of how tens of thousands of productive citizens fleeing this rotting socialist state, which is run by a communist governor, are able to find good jobs in other states.
Naturally, the question provides the answer, but I’ll leave it to liberals and their majority of useful idiots to dance around the obvious and blame Bush.
