What are Women about?
http://www.self.whatisthat ^ | 04-10-2007 | J.Wright

Around 1980 my Dad showed me a book someone gave him as a crank gift, its title was 'Everything I know about Women' and every page was blank.

I had to laugh because it was so true for me also. I know nothing about 'them' although a few have come into the sphere of my life here and there during my journey into the unknown.

My POV is from the place of a 52 never married bach.

The torment I suffered at the hands of Women is way to intiimate for this forum, but for some reason I still love them (as I kneel down at my mothers grave when she died so young at 42 from cancer)

For now, I have come to the conclusion that Women are about making babies and this is their most primal/powerful motivating force that operates at all levels in a Woman.

It is something stronger than the force of gravity that drives them, that is their drive/seduction to have a man put a baby into them.

“A women wants the self-same sovereignty Over her husband as over her lover, And master him, he must not be above her” Canterbury Tales, The Wife of Bath, page 286 by Geoffrey Chaucer.

True then. Still true today.

Noted..,

A very powerful statement there from Chaucer. I never heard it until now, but it resonates with me.

Regards,

Chaucer was a pretty smart dude. And if you can get past the writing style Canterbury Tales is a wonderful insight into female thinking; such as it is....

Of course there is that great Jack Nicholson line from "As Good As It Gets":

"People ask me how I can write women so well. It's easy. I just think of a man and then take away all reason and accountability."

Or there's the Steve Martin line in the movie "Parenthood"

"Women have choices. Men have responsibilites."

Pick one. They're all pretty valid at one time or another.

But maybe I should have stopped with the Chaucer quote...

Best of luck figgering 'em out. Let me know when you have it. We'll put together a business plan and become rich beyond our wildest dreams.

It really depends on the man. Woman that dominate (overly dominate) a relationship would never happen to me. Id simply not allow it. I think all this "woman are an open book" and "forces that drive woman" is nothing more then fairy tails that men make up to justify why they are whipped. I never understood why men cow tow like that. You respect your partner, you love her, and she should do the same. Im very outgoing, forward and extroverted. When a woman meets me she knows immediately that woman wearing the pants will not work with me. Im 34 and not married - Im having way to much dateing and having a great time doing it.

However, im sure when I get married everything I just said will be invalided LOL... ROFL... LOL

Women don’t know what they want, but they want it now.

Am I the first woman here in a sea of guys venting about women? ;-)

Seriously, remember that most stereotypes about women do not apply to conservative chicks. (There’s one already - conservative women aren’t offended by being called a “chick.”)

Perhaps some FReepers of the fairer sex might comment on this, thereby enlightening the rest of us as to exactly what women are all about.

Women spend their days immersed in endless trivia - and from it they somehow manage to produce something more vital than bridges or hospitals. They produce each new generation of planet-dwellers.

It appears so.

There’s one already - conservative women aren’t offended by being called a “chick.”

Are they offended when guys politely refer to them as "cute"? :P

Well, trying to understand a liberal (of either sex) is like trying to understand a Martian.

As for what conservative women are all about, we think a lot like guys do...we understand men's fondness for sports, guns, and the American flag because we like those things too. What we don't understand is guys' fondness for Pamela Anderson's chest. ;-)

Well I for one am not venting and I am glad you are here ;-)

Also I do not understand why any woman would be offended by a mans oblique reference to her sexuality, such as ‘chick’

Hardwired in, like the idea that beauty has to do with symmetry.
