Video clips of a dog being decapitated with a chain saw were found on the cell phone of a St. Paul man accused of killing his former girlfriend's pet, according to charges filed Friday.
The man, Anthony Albert Gomez, 24, is charged with two counts of cruelty to pets. He is currently being held on $35,000 bail and was scheduled to make his first appearance in Ramsey County District Court Friday afternoon.
After cutting off the dog's head, Gomez allegedly gift-wrapped it in a box and left it on the doorstep of Crystal Brown, 17, whom he had once dated. She had broken off the relationship.
Chevy, an Australian Shepherd, went missing Feb. 17. On Feb. 28, the box showed up at the home of Shirley Brown, who is Brown's grandmother. The box had a note addressed to Crystal.

Of course, one must wonder what a 17 yr old girl was doing dating a 24 yr old man. Regardless, this was so inhumane...I'm at a loss for words.
I hope he gets 2 consecutive 4 year sentences (the maximum) AND the $10,000 fine.

It was a therapy dog, that should be enough to tell you that the poor girl was not capable of making responsible decisions, but was on her way to recovery.

I think if I was a DA I would use the fact that the dog was therapy dog to up the charges. Since the dog was medically necessary for the girl to perform her daily functions you could argue that the sicko deprived her of not only property but of a necessary asset. Or you could just bullwhip the SOB cover his bare body with honey and glue stick him on a fire ant pile rub his genitals with fiberglass and weave him a crown of sandspur sunglasses.
Not that the dog's status makes the crime any less heinous, especially given the trauma given the teen.
It's apparently not all that rare. Some studies of who the father is in abortion cases show that there's a pretty high rate of such age discrepancies. ...It's not usually two 16 year olds messing up.

That brings up a good point : Right now the charges are of cruelty to animals( 2 counts, 4 years max each). Surely he can be charged with a lot more than that: Theft, as you mentioned, terroristic threats, maybe emotional damages in civil court....If there is one redeeming feature about this thing, it's well hidden.

Twenty-something losers tend to prefer high school girls. The high schoolers are almost criminally stupid about older "men", especially when the rapist says the magic word "love".
