Today, for the first time, the Intrade/Tradesports contract for Giuliani to win the GOP nomination has surpassed that of McCain. Current prices are Rudy 31.0 and McCain 30.3
You're right. McCain doesn't have the emotional stability to handle this news or any of the other bad poll numbers.
Gee, and only 19 months from election day!
First the obligatory: I honor McCain for his military service. I am sure I would not have been up to the task as a POW, but I can honor his service without voting for him for President of the US.
I wouldn't feel this way if I were a Democrat however.
Why the McCain meltdown? I wouldn't want him to lose because of his principled stand on Iraq. He needs to lose for all the unprincipled stances he has taken.
Can you post all of the candidates' odds for us please (the firewall here blocks the site)? Thanks!
The only thing worse than polls is political betting site news.
I agree
The latest thread that the dems are posting in USENET is titled something like "Mcain: Iraq Could End My Career"
What's up with that?
I didn't read it yet so I will hold judgement. To tell you the truth, Im waiting until dinner. Cant read it on an empty stomach.
Things like political stock markets are good proof of the 'greater fool' theory of investing.
And the great part is...
Finding a 'greater fool' is so easy!
Toil away with backbreaking work if you must...
I prefer to let my money work for me instead of working for the money...
Is this a great country or WHAT!
And this instability does not necessarily come from having been imprisoned for some five and a half years in Hanoi Hilton.
He was something of a loose cannon in the Navy BEFORE he was captured and held as a POW. His father and grandfather had been admirals, and it was once expected of young John that he follow their footsteps to the top of the Navy hierarchy. Apparently, though, this may have proved to be too much of an emotional and intellectual burden for young John.
He did not do all that well in his class standing at Annapolis, and his career as a Naval officer after commissioning was not all that distinguished. He was put in flight training because, well, they could not trust him at the helm of even a medium-sized seagoing vessel. Plus there was always the chance that if he DID wipe himself out, at least he would not take so many with him.
If you cannot bring yourself to condemn the man, at least make the praise as faint as possible.
It switched back:
McCain 31.9 vs. Rudy 31.0

But in other polls McCain is sinking -- I can hardly wait to see him below 20% and continuing to drop.
But in the overall presidential race, who will actually win the presidency, Hillary is leading, which is a frightening thought.

Pres Clinton 27.5, but Rudy is next with 17.5, ahead of any of the other Republican nominees, followed by McCain at 15.5 and Obama at 15.
What principled stand?!
The one where he was bashing Rumsfeld as the worst secretary of state or the one where he bashed Bush that the entire war is mismanaged, or the one where he pushed through the Terrorists Protection Bill over the objection of the Bush administration, giving the terrorists rights granted to US citizens by the US Constitution and even forbade "degrading" treatment of the terrorists -- better a US city be nuked, than to allow anyone to put panties on the head of a terrorist.

The extra long primary season this time around is a wonderful vetting process. McCain will crack. He's such damaged goods anyway.
Who, in there right mind, would pay 4 1/2 for a Hagel? Someone purchased a lousy Hagel, and at such an inflated price. A Duncan Hunter buyer could have purchased 4 Duncan Hunter contracts, and put up less money than the maroon who bought the worthless hagel. How many of you out there think that Hagel's got a 4x greater shot at winning the GOP nomination than the Conservative Duncan Hunter?
I saw a video of him this morning speaking somewhere. He was saying that we had to close Gitmo and bring the detainees to Ft. Levenworth. Complete insanity.
LOL!!!!!!!
His Dad must be single-handedly inflating the market!
