That's a harsh penalty for joining the Mile High Club.

Typical misleading MSM headline.

"Sexual play" did not get them in trouble with the law - threatening a crewmember did.

Persing's lawyer William Peregoy said his client was not feeling well when he placed his head on his companion's lap

Yeah, right.

Threatening a flight crew member is (and should be) a criminal offense. But this is a misapplication of the Patriot Act, in the same vain as the misapplication of the RICO statutes by federal prosecutors.

No sympathy for this couple, but the proper laws should apply.

So they're terrorists now? And freepers agree with that assessment? Make note of how freepers change their tune when President Hillary arrests them for far less using the same law.

It's apparent the flight attendant went to public school. ZERO tolerance policies and ZERO common sense have been ingrained.

But for God's sake, DO NOT profile the passengers because that may hurt someone's FEELINGS!

Just to add some perpsective -- the article said could land them in jail for 20 years. I'm sure if there are no priors, no other aggravating circumstances, etc. etc. this will all get pled down - bottom line is that this guy won't be threatening any crewmembers any time soon. He might even find himself on some "check this guy out" lists. My guess is that the punishment will fit the crime. Hell, his co-workers are probably already having some fun with this which is to be expected.

On a second warning from the flight attendant, Persing snapped back threatening the flight attendant with "serious consequences" if he did not leave them alone.

Wait, don't tell me. This assh*le is a Democrat and a lawyer, right?

I'd like to know exactly what the guy said. Did he threaten to attack or kill the flight attendant?

I don't blame the passengers for being uncomfortable. They were in their 40's for goodness sake! It's like watching grandma and grandpa engaging in sex play! Blech!

Now I understand. To a male flight attendant, "excuse me" can sound threatening.

That's why they are in legal trouble. He threatened a flight attendant with 'serious consequences,' now he faces 'serious consequences.' Still, this whole affair seems overstated.

A couple's ill-concealed sexual play aboard a Southwest Airlines flight from Los Angeles got them charged with violating the Patriot Act, intended for terrorist acts, and could land them in jail for 20 years.

We feel safer now.

It's a threat. They need to pay the penalty. However, there is no way it will go to 20 years. They will get off with a slap and a promise not to do it again.
