Why blame Evangelicals?
Of course nobody is "above reproach," but I'd argue that Evangelicals have done more to help the Republican party than any other group. My church, for example, made hundreds of phone calls encouraging conservative-leaning voters to get out and vote. Evangelicals poured millions of dollars into the campaigns.
I just don't understand your anti-Evangelical attitude, other than a simple bigotry against those who trust God.

Filibusters are usually a better threat than actual tactic, a desperate measure that shows one doesn't have the votes to defeat appointment and one that many "conservative" Dems up for reelection in 2008 wouldn't support.
Besides, since filibuster of SCOTUS appointment has never before occurred, how about a "recess appointment"? :~) That would force a filibuster wide open. Maybe Senate Dems can appeal to SCOTUS to rule on whether "recess appointment" of SCOTUS justice would be legal :~) Imagine the possibilities... and voters reaction to these Dems' hijinks.
You are so right; there is no sense in being angry with those who trust in God. Prayers for those who lost in yesterday's voting. May they and their wonderful families go forward in positive ways.
This country survived clintoon for 8 years. We'll survive this abomination as well. Maybe now the republicans will grow a spine.

I'm not giving Evangelicals any larger percentage of blame than any other group involved in this catastrophe but facts are facts. This group abandoned the first President Bush and were the mid-wives of the first Clinton victory. In plain English, they forget to "render unto Caesar, what is Caesar's", how many innocent babies have they condemned to death before take their first breath outside the womb because their noses were put out of joint over Schiavo?
A telling comment from Cal Thomas on News Watch some time ago, Conservative Christians, Catholics, Evangelicals should no longer feel obligated to President Bush 43 because of the Stem Cell Bill he signed. Getting back to Caeser, now, they have as much an obligation to their fellow citizens in maintaining a "good and just" government as another other aspect of their religious life. Are they that foolish they can now live their lives in peace?
Perhaps, I shouldn't use the term "Evangelicals" as a synonym for Christians/Catholics, I know religion well enough to know they are but one part of the Religous Right who have let us down once again.
I went to the Arizona secretary of state board for the official election results. Prop 107, the defense of marriage initiative, lost 48.x to 51.x.
The President allowed the leftists and their media to define the war, as well as a whole host of other issues. As much as we sometimes hold the average politician with disdain for their seeking out the cameras, that's what we needed before this election. Unfortunately, some Republicans need their hand held and to be schmoozed.
And he did. I watched as much as I could stand. It was surreal. Casey is a shell of a man compared to Santorum. I never knew until last night that Casey is pro-life, I'd never heard that. Seems like he kept that on the backburner just in case running on his daddy's coattails or the war weren't enough. Well, I hope we see more of Rick. PA has taken a turn for the worse last night, and we will need Rick and more like him to pull us out in the future.
This election is a HUGE blow to the Republican Party.. make no mistake about it.. this election is all about IRAQ.... Many if not MOST of the "Republican" seats that went to the Democrats were taken by "moderate" Democrats.. however Watch for the FAR LEFT (Kennedy et al) to try and tout this victory as an endorsement of the FAR LEFT agenda...
Having said that.. When the votes are counted in Virgina and Montana.. no matter how close the vote is.. I suggest that the Republicans stand united and ACCEPT the results and not pull any Democrat stunts (ie Bush/Gore) if that means handing the gavels (committee chaires) to the Democrats, than so be it.... we need to keep the focus on 08' and not forget what brought us to this point.. keep your head up... and lets motivate our conservative base to come out in 08'......
That's all I got to say about that....

I don't know man.. I have a hard time explaining how these democrats who took over the republican seats could be actually not far far to the left.
Best hope which is very little would be pressure these new democrats to not vote for any of these amnesty bill.
It's hard to imagine the public loving the Dems two years from now.
All the Democrats see in rise in the stock market is what money it can take away from stockholders and investers.
