Fort Morgan, CO - Denver Broncos legend John Elway placed a phone call Sunday to thousands of Colorado families asking them to support Bob Beauprez for Governor.
"I'm calling this evening to ask you to join me in supporting my good friend Bob Beauprez to be Colorado's next Governor," said Elway. "Having been through a few close games in my career, I know what it takes to win--and Bob Beauprez has what it takes."
Beauprez today hit the trail in northeastern Colorado, kicking off the final week of the campaign. Beauprez began the day in Fort Collins before stopping here in Fort Morgan to receive the Friend of the Farm Bureau Award.
"I'm honored to receive this award for my work on behalf of rural Colorado," said Beauprez. "As your next Governor, I'll fight to defend our water and protect our ability to produce the food and fiber we all need."
Beauprez will continue his barnstorm tour of the Eastern Plains this afternoon in Sterling before a dinner stop in Burlington.
Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave and former Congressman Bob Schaffer are joining Beauprez on the trail today to continue rallying support in rural Colorado.
Beauprez will head back to the Metro Area tomorrow for live appearances on Channel 4 during the noon hour and appearing later at 8:00 p.m. for the primetime 9NEWS Debate at Denver University.

I agree. I see him running for Governor of Colorado in 2010 (if democRAT Ritter wins this year) or in 2014 after a second Bob Beauprez term.
I just saw the end of this debate. I can't believe the DemoncRAT candidate was so cavaleirly dismissive of the need to lock up pedophiles and other predators - it highlighted the absurdity of the media's compulsion over Mark Foley - e-mails are terrible, actual physical crime simply disturbed felons.
Just saw the debate live. Bob Beauprez sounds like he would make a fine governor for the people of Colorado. Hope he wins.
That sounds like Michael Dukakis in the 1988 Presidential campaign when he answered the hypothetical question from CNN's Bernard Shaw about his wife being murdered. Dukakis gave that sterile answer about being against the death penalty.

Please, no. We lived in Denver several years back. John Elway is a great guy but no heavyweight in the intellectual department. We don't need to become the Dems-lite. Going for looks and popularity over substance. Now if you tell me that he has become wiser over the years, then I may have to rethink my position.

Agreed. I'm from Denver and his stomping grounds were the same as mine. IMHO, he will never run for office. But his cash and support are always welcome :-)
He comes across as a really nice guy. And, yes, I'm sure his endorsement is a boost. Glad he's on our side!
