Vanity: John Faso should be made Controller
Juliej

Posted on 10/27/2006 1:11:52 PM PDT by juliej

Alan Hevesi, the current State Controller, has been exposed as the crook that we knew he was, what with his using state funds to pay for his wife's limo driver/keeper. Carol Hevesi may be ill, but surely Alan could have come up with the funds from his own pocket. Now that he is being investigated by an Ethics Panel in Albany and by the local district attorney, there is talk of having him "replaced" if he wins election over little known Republican candidate Christopher Callaghan. John Faso, who is running against Eliot Spitzer, has not been able to raise the funds necessary to go after this bully. However, it is Faso who nearly defeated Hevesi four years ago. The voters owe Faso a debt of gratitude for nearly having defeated this blowhard. When it is time to replace Hevesi - if he is "reelected" - why not John Faso as the controller? Even Spitzer must recognize that Faso is far better than Hevesi. I have heard Tom Suozzi's name bandied about but I doubt that will happen. New York State owes one to Faso.

So, your contention is that Eliot Spitzer is going to do the right thing by New York?

Eliot Spitzer??? The Eliot Spitzer?

Of course not - he should be pressured into doing it! It has to be talked up first.

It is impossible for Elliot Spitzer to do this because Elliot Spitzer has never created a job in his life. He is only interested in killing businesses across NY State.

Very true. But it should be talked up. The press is TOTALLY IGNORING THE FACT that we could have had "controller John Faso" instead of the corrupt Alan Hevesi.

It's too bad it requires big bucks to win around here, I know quite a few who would like to see it happen.

When he ran for controller he raised a lot of money and I heard his ads on WABC radio. Nothing now - and people don't even mention his name when they discuss the governor's race.

Faso must be kicking himself from Albany to Niagara Falls that he didn't run for Comptroller again this year. He would have been a certainty to win that race at this point.

my question is, where was Elliot Spitzer? Wouldn't this fall under the jurisdiction of the Attorney General of the state of New York? Shouldn't he be ratting out corruption in high office rather than shaking down private industry? Just wondering.

It'll be interesting to see if the Dems of NY vote Hevesi back into office.

Of course this is probably a foregone conclussion considering the calibre of the voters here!

(see tagline)

You know, you're right. I had not even thought of that! But I wonder if he would have been able to raise the money - that has been the real sticking point this yeaer.

Today the NY Post has endorsed Eliot spitzer because his "victory in inevitable". That's right: just jump on the moving train. what a bunch of sellouts! And of couse, they gave Hillary a big wet kiss. The only conservative newspaper in NYC is now the New York sun.

Faso is a great guy, we have had a couple conversations in the past week. The chairman of the county Republicans said, You and John are the best candidates but you both have the same problem and that is raising money.

Well we are at a huge disadvantage, the rino's in this state have destroyed the chances of us Republicans. I have virtually no $$ and he has no where near enough.

Money is the only way to even give them competition and get your name and platform out there.
