Jeff Suppan is scheduled to pitch for the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 4 of the World Series at Busch Stadium, but his time on the mound will not be his only appearance on the baseball telecast.
Suppan is one of several athletes in a political campaign commercial to be broadcast regionally during the Fox networks telecast of the game. The ad urges Missouri voters to oppose stem-cell research and vote against Amendment 2 to the state constitution, on the ballot in the Nov. 7 election.
In a video copy of the ad, produced and distributed by an anti-amendment group called Missourians Against Human Cloning and posted on the Internet, Mr. Suppans face appears in the first 10 seconds. He is not wearing a baseball cap in the ad.
"Amendment 2 claims it bans human cloning, but in the 2,000 words you dont read, it makes cloning a constitutional right," Mr. Suppan says in the ad. "Dont be deceived."

And the NY Times has a problem, why?
Folks can read it for themselves.
No, the ad does not do this and the purpose of the Amendment is to allow human cloning. This is an issue that is so easy to obfuscate.
Which is why Rush's challenge to Michael J. Fox is so important.
(1) Blastocyst means a small mass of cells that results from cell division, caused either by fertilization or somatic cell nuclear transfer, that has not been implanted in a uterus.
And for those that don't know what that little bold section means - that is the method of cloning used to bring about Dolly the cloned sheep. You see, that is the part that is currently illegal in Missouri. This amendment actually is about this one little bit - allowing cloning, despite the feel-good title.
This is the same-said amendment that Michael J. Fox went off his meds to make a political ad in favor of.

Interesting isn't it. If you read an amendment versus letting someone else like shorty, tell you what is in the amendment, you get an entirely different picture. We are enduring just that issue in South Dakota with referred law 6 the abortion bill that makes cosmetic, and birth control abortions illegal.
One reason I have asked of myself and the choir, that all law that congress puts on the floor for vote, cannot be written by staffers, cannot be more than one page long, and must be read word for word by all who are to vote on the bill.
These rules do not overcome idiocy or take the place of stupidity, but it would be a start, and I suspect it would keep congresspersons busy enough that they might not have time for some of the stuff that passes for the business of the people, when as now they depend on others to decipher what their staffers put on paper to be voted on.
Correct... and it also showcases the DBM's alliance with the DNC.
Because they want cloning to be enshrined on the Contitution, and becaue Suppan will holds some weight with Missouri voters and likely ruin whatever effect they thought MJF could have.
Suppan was mean to the Mets?
Dang right he was..........GO CARDINALS!
Good for him: not afraid to speak his mind. And I bet he doesn't shove it down people's throats...unlike the Hollywood types.
I just happened to stumble across this thread... Thank you, Jeff Suppan!
Well, can someone tell me who won? I went to sleep during the seventh innings.
THE CARDS!....
