Fossil remains show the merging of Neandertals, modern humans

By Neil Schoenherr

The early modern human remains from the Pestera Muierii (Cave of the Old Woman), Romania, which were discovered in 1952, have been poorly dated and largely ignored. But recently, a team of researchers from the Anthropological and Archaeological Institutes in Bucharest, Romania, and from WUSTL has been able to directly date the fossils to 30,000 years ago. The fossils prove that a strict population replacement of the Neandertals did not happen.

"What these fossils show is that these earliest modern humans had a mosaic of distinctly modern human characteristics and other characteristics which align them with Neandertals, suggesting some combination of modern humans dispersing into Europe and interacting with and absorbing the Neandertal population," said Erik Trinkaus, Ph.D., the Mary Tileston Hemenway Professor of physical anthropology in Arts & Sciences.

"These fossils have the potential to shed light on several issues regarding early modern Europeans."

The team's research will appear online in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

The human remains from the Pestera Muierii present a basically modern human-derived pattern, which is evident in discrete traits and metric aspects throughout the sample. It therefore joins the sample of human remains from the sites of Pestera cu Oase and Pestera Cioclovina in southeastern Europe, Mlade in Central Europe, and Brassempouy, La Quina Aval and Les Rois in western Europe in filling out the anatomy of the earliest of modern humans in Europe.

Yet, as with many of these other Early Upper Paleolithic modern Europeans, the Muierii fossils exhibit a number of archaic and/or Neandertal features.

These data reinforce the mosaic nature of these early modern Europeans and the complex dynamics of human reproductive patterns when modern humans moved westward across Europe.

Sure, they do...Just like all the other alleged missing links did before they were proven to be frauds or debunked. Happens every time because the fossil record refutes evolution, showing species appear suddenly and fully-formed, matching the Creationist model:

Example 1 - Piltdown Man

A good example of this is what is now known as the Piltdown fraud, in which some fossil experts found some modern human remains, yet they altered the bones to make them appear to be “the missing link.” The skull was from a human and the jaw was from an ape. For forty years this forgery was hailed as the “missing link” until it was exposed as forgery in 1953.

How was it that so many scientists were fooled by this? One evolutionist named Roger Lewin commented on this in his book Bones of Contention:

“How is it that trained men, the greatest experts of their day, could look at a set of modern human bones—the cranial fragments—and “see” a clear simian signature in them; and “see” in an ape’s jaw the unmistakable signs of humanity? The answers, inevitably, have to do with the scientists’ expectations and their effects on the interpretation of data… Data are just as often molded to fit preferred conclusions. And the interesting question then becomes “What shapes the preference of an individual or group of researchers?” not “What is the truth?”

These men wanted to prove evolution so badly that they let this mold their findings into what they expected, instead of what was the truth. This seems to happen quite often.

Example 2 - Nebraska Man

In 1922 a complete illustration of a prehistoric man and woman was fabricated after the find of one tooth. Later it was found to be the tooth of an extinct cousin of a wild pig.

Example 3 - Rhodesian Man

Skull found in 1921 and later determined to be a skull from modern man.

Example 4 - Orce Man

Small fragment of a skull found in 1982 and was allegedly from the skull of a prehistoric boy. It was later identified as a fragment of a 6-month-old donkey skull.

Example 5 - Java Man

In 1891, leg bone, tooth, and skull cap from the supposed “missing link.” Leg bone and tooth were human, skull cap was from a giant gibbon monkey.

Example 6 - AEGYPTOPITHECUS ZEUXIS

Eventually admitted by evolutionists to be an ape skull

Example 7 - DRYOPITHECUS AFRICANUS

Eventually admitted by evolutionists to be an ape skull

Example 8 - RAMAPITHECUS BREVIROSTRIS

Eventually admitted by evolutionists to be an ape skull

Examples 9,10,11 - AUSTRALOPITHECUS, HOMO HABILIS, AND HOMO ERECTUS

These three hominids are supposedly contemporaries, and man’s artifacts have been found in areas BENEATH these hominid’s dwelling sites.

Listen to what Duane Gish wrote in 1995:

“If AUSTRALOPITHECUS, HOMO HABILIS, AND HOMO ERECTUS existed contemporaneously, how could one have been ancestral to another? And how could any of these creatures be ancestral to Man, when Man’s artifacts are found at a lower stratigraphic level, directly underneath, and thus earlier in time to these supposed ancestors of Man?”

According to Ernst Mayr, the famed evolutionary taxonomist from Harvard, “The HOMO ERECTUS stage is characterized by a body skeleton which, so far as we know, does not differ from that of modern man in any essential point.”

The argument as to whether modern humans & Neanderthals coexisted swings back & forth so often that I can't keep track of it.

Last I heard the geneticists pretty much settled the argument by establishing that we were not closely related enough to make interbreeding possible -- even if we assume that we overlapped.

This deepens the mystery of Hillary's background. There are questions about which line she descended from.

There may be evidence of an "urge to merge" but not with this one!

Keep Clinton from finding out where this cave is. He's known to have an interest in dating fossils.

I've noticed a new feature today...I was limited to just '4' keywords. Is this a universal change ? If it's limited to just me, I'm outta here!!

They used the Megalithic Yard and the pint and pound, same as humans now. Even Napoleon didn't like the meter.

One look at Al Frankin and there is no doubt that Neandertal genes still exist.

How in the world do they DO that? They never say...
