US Democrats lead after sex scandal

DEMOCRATIC candidates have a big edge on Republicans one month before elections to decide control of Congress, a flurry of new polls said today, with ratings for President George W Bush and Congress dropping after the Capitol Hill sex scandal.

A USA Today/Gallup poll gave Democrats a 23-point edge on Republicans in the battle for Congress, while a CNN poll gave Democrats a 21-point lead.

An ABC News/Washington Post poll found Democrats held a 54-41 per cent lead in the congressional horse race among registered and likely voters, which ABC said was the biggest Democratic lead this close to election day in more than 20 years.

And a new CBS News/New York Times poll showed 79 per cent of respondents thought Republican leaders were more concerned with politics than the well-being of the teenage congressional assistants who received lewd messages from former Republican Rep. Mark Foley of Florida.

Republicans, already battered by public doubts about the Iraq war and Mr Bush's leadership, have been scrambling to contain the fallout from the unfolding sex scandal and keep it from sinking their chances on November 7.

Someone posted Rasmussen's newest poll showing that Republicans were NOT affected by this contrived political attack.

Kim Jong Il and his people must certainly know they are more likely to get away with building nuclear weapons if the Democrats are in power in the US.

So, the question becomes, not is Foley a pedophile, and certainly not was Hastert aware of such behavior, but is Mike Rogers, the principle actor behind the outing of Foley a Korean agent?

Some of the other participants should also be called to account for their involvement in this activity, for example the Executive Director of C.R.E.W., Melanie Sloane, and the House Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi. Some of those pages who helped in the effort might like to spend some time in the federal lock up with their political activists parents while all this is sorted out.

It was a sex scandal with no sex and no scandal.

It was child molestation with no children and no molestation....

Oh nonsense. What are the internals? Rassmussen did a Foleygate poll and only found 36% felt Hastert should resign. He also shows NO movement in President Bush's approval numbers.

IF these News media polls, conducted over a weekend which tend to move them Left, were serious Rass's poll would show a larger number of people pissed at Hastert. He doesn't. This is the problem with Junk Media polls, you have NO idea of their Democrat-Republican mix. IF you polled 45% D 35% R you get one result, if you poll 45-45% you get a completely different one.

Until the Polling firms do a poll that is 48%-48% this all is just noise. EVEN Gallup admitted Republicans were solid in their poll. So it all boils down to turn out. THIS "It all over but the crying" story line is designed to do ONE thing, keep Republicans at home Nov 7th. It nonsense.

Here is what happened after Watergate. A vastly more serious scandal then this nonsense about Foley.

http://www.ashbrook.org/publicat/oped/busch/06/1974.html

When the votes were counted, Democratic hopes had been realized. Republicans lost 48 House seats, five Senate seats, and statehouse after statehouse. The Democratic scythe cut most deeply in previously Republican suburbs where concerns about the economy and clean government resonated strongly.

Watergate, the start of one of the worst recessions in US History and Ford pardoning Nixon. These supposed "Pollsters" are telling us THIS year is going to be worse. Worse? A booming economy? A scandal no one but the Always Angry care about, A war no where near as unpopular as Vietnam is going to result in WORSE fall out for the GOP then 1974?

It would be interesting to go back to this point before the last 10 or 15 elections and compare what the MSM was saying about Dem leads compared to what actually happened when the "real" poll took place! Seems like we go through this every election.

Dick Morris just told Sean that North Korea could turn the midterms hard right, and Bush has a grand opportunity to stick it to the dims by pushing China into cutting off ronery-boy. He equates it to The Cuban Missile Crisis.

I can't believe people are falling for this. Do they really think the party of Bill Clinton, Gerry Studds and Barney Frank will promote family values?

If the American voters in their collective insanity put those democratic reprobates in control of both houses, we might as well start learning the Koran, and praying towards Mecca.

I usually agree with you, but Ollie North was on just before Dick and he was saying much the same thing.

I guess we really should be thanking God that the Dems have so much difficulty learning from their mistakes. It's really worked pretty well for our side that they do the same tired old things every election, time after time. I mean, where will we be if they ever figure out the same old thing, over and over, is not working and it's time for a new play book. I have pointed out before that a huge difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals base everything on intention, while conservative evaluate outcome by looking at the result.

After a while you begin to think you MUST be overlooking something, surely they can't be this dumb.
