Hastert denies GOP saw Foley's "vile" messages (Conservatives calling for resignations.)
The Washington Times ^ | October 3, 2006 | Charles Hurt

Posted on 10/03/2006 6:43:59 AM PDT by no dems

House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert said yesterday that Republican leaders had not previously seen the more lurid Internet "instant messages" sent by disgraced ex-Rep. Mark Foley as influential conservatives began calling for party leadership resignations over the handling of the matter.

Mr. Hastert said "No one in the Republican leadership ... saw those messages until last Friday when ABC News released them."

Still, several well-known conservatives called for Republican resignations because Hastert and other leaders did not act aggressively enough when they first learned of a separate set of "overly friendly" e-mails that Mr. Foley had sent to another teenage former page.

"Speaker Hastert had knowledge of Congressman Foley's inappropriate behavior and chose to protect a potential pedophile" David Bossie, president of the conservative group Citizens United, said yesterday. "If Speaker Hastert was willing to sacrifice a child to protect Representative Foley's seat and his own leadership position, then he surely does not share our American and conservative values."

"When you have a 50-year-old man -- who is a known homosexual -- who wants a picture of a 16-year-old boy, that should send out some alarm bells," he said. "This is almost like a Clinton-type response."

"That e-mail they call an 'overly friendly' e-mail -- that had predator stamped all over it. There's just no one in this country that can suggest otherwise," said Bay Buchanan, the president of American Cause.

What a total, total idiot Fat Denny is. Everyone on this website who knows me, knows I am a Ronald Reagan-style Conservative. But, the Pubbies have so sickened me that if they get their butts handed to them on November 7, I won't be nearly as heartbroken as I would have been a month ago.

It's almost like our guys are begging the Dems to take control of both Houses.

(Washington Times)Newspaper HR Director Faces Internet Sex Charges

September 28, 2006 | AP

The human resources director of The Washington Times has been arrested on charges of soliciting a teenager for sex on the Internet.

D.C. police say 53-year-old Randall Casseday of Dobbs Ferry, New York, was arrested Tuesday night in Northeast Washington. He had allegedly arranged to meet what he believed was a 13-year-old girl he had been corresponding with in an online chat room. The person he was communicating with was a detective with the department's Internet Crimes Against Children branch.

Casseday, who rents a room in the Washington area, was charged with attempted enticement of a minor and was due to appear Thursday in U.S. District Court.

Brian Bauman, a spokesman for the Times, says the company is cooperating with authorities and that Casseday has been suspended without pay pending the results of the investigation.

David Bossie, president of the conservative group Citizens United

Who is David Bossie and who are the Citizens United??? Not exactly a well known or influential conservative if you ask me. I read a ton of news and I don't ever recall seeing that group ever mentioned.

Don't over react and get a grip on reality.

Instant Messages are NOT emails.

This resignation call is complete BS.

Pelosi had access to the instant messages for THREE YEARS.

That is the place for your focus.

With reagan-style conservatives like you, the DUmies will have many more subscribers.

Fascinating and sad. When a liberal commits a grave moral error, the Left closes ranks around him and provides support. When one of our conservatives, in this case Hastert, is attacked even unfairly for failing to know hidden information, many conservatives are quick to turn on him and demand his head.

Folks, we'll never overcome when we do that!

AREN'T PRIVATE INST. MESSAGES CONFIDENTIAL? How could they become public and be printed all over the newspaper?

Isn't this an invasion of the boy's privacy (assuming it's true that the family did not want this publicized) and of Foley's privacy?

Do we now have to worry that our private IMs are NOT private?

We (Republicans) let run, and elected a pervert to represent our party?
if so, we deserve to lose.

"Who is David Bossie and who are the Citizens United???"

David Bossie is the former staffer of Congressman Dan Burton, and he was instrumental in the investigation of Bill Clinton's many illegal activities, including (but not limited to) his pardon of known terrorists and criminals in exchange for contributions.

Oh, please! Get a grip!!

Hastert should not resign. That is a ridiculous and irresponsible demand at this time. You are just as bad as the Dems that already have a conservative CONVICTED before all the facts are in. You should be ashamed.

Now take a deep breath, stop hyperventilating, and let the facts come out. Then we can talk more about who knew what and when, and take action.

Yes I was. I vaguely recall Bossie being involved in Clinton's investigation but I have never heard of Citizens United, which is what I stated.

Yesterday, there was a link with all of the IM's printed, in their full glory.

How can this happen? Do we have to worry that our private IMs can be published?

He had better have proof of that or he could be in some legal trouble himself.

Hey! Mr. No Dems! Pay attention!

The MSM has succeeded in confusing you.

The House leadership saw some emails from 2003 that were wierd but not obscene.

THEY DID NOT SEE THE LURID TEXT MESSAGES UNTIL THE ABC NEWS BLACK OP ON BEHALF OF THE DNC WAS INITIATED.

You're the total fat idiot if you believe the MSM, or you're a DNC operative.

It didn't take the Democrats long to exploit the sleazy Mark Foley scandal with their own sleazy political commercial, produced in record time."

Did Dems know this was coming? Seems like they were awful ready for this. It would not surprise me if Dems, as well as Repubs, knew these Text Messages/e-mails were coming.

ABC knew in August!

Pelosi had access to the instant messages for THREE YEARS.

WHAT?!? She had access to the INSTANT MESSAGES, not the e-mails but those filthy IM's for three years and is just NOW breathing fire over them??

If Denny Hastert has to go then so should she and anyone else!

BTW, I agree with you. And NO!! Hastert should NOT step down and he should ignore all calls, telling him to do so. He has said repeatedly that he nor the leadership knew about those filthy IM's until ABC brought them up. These guys are not Charles Xavier of the X-men; they CANNOT read minds or thoughts. They acted on what information they had which were the e-mails and told the guy to stop. What were they supposed to do? Tap the man's computer? They would have had the American Criminal Libertine Union all over them!
