Sen. Hillary Clinton has spoken up in support of her husband Bills defense of his anti-terror efforts, saying shes tired of Democrats being pushed around on national security issues.
"I just think that my husband did a great job in demonstrating that Democrats are not going to take this, she said on Monday in remarks reported by Newsday.
In a heated discussion with Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday, Bill Clinton said that as president, he did more than many of his conservative critics to pursue al-Qaida, and alleged that President Bush didnt try to stop terrorism in the eight months of his presidency before the 9/11 attacks.
Hillary agreed, adding: "All you have to do is read the 9/11 commission. I thought all he did was state what had been repeatedly found in the various studies that have taken place.
Hillary continued: "I'm certain that if my husband and his national security team had been shown a classified report entitled 'Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States,'" Clinton said, "he would have taken it more seriously than history suggests it was taken by our current president and his national security team."
Curiously, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice also referred to the commission in ripping Clintons claims and defending the Bush administrations efforts against terrorism: "I would just suggest that you go back and read the 9/11 commission report on the efforts of the Bush administration in the eight months . . .
"The notion somehow for eight months the Bush administration sat there and didnt do that is just flatly false and I think the 9/11 commission understood that.
In any case, even conservatives like Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol see political benefits in Clintons headline-grabbing counterattack on his critics. He said: "In this interview, Clinton rallied Democrats. He reminded them of their talking points on Bush's alleged passivity in his first eight months in office . . .
"If the Bush-Rove war-on-terror offensive stalls out this week . . . and Democrats do well in November, Bill Clinton can take credit, at a crucial moment, for discrediting the terror issue as a mere political ploy, and showing Democrats how to fight back.
See, this is what happens to Billy. He had one moment of clarity when he broke free of McCain's butt the other week except he just couldn't sustain it. Now the NOT so conservative Billy Kristol makes a fool of himself once again. Is it any wonder the Republicans had trouble mounting a challenge to Clinton when "conservatives" like General Bill here put up candidates like themselves to run?
Yes, Billy, Clinton handled himself just perfect. Eight months sure is a legacy kicker next to a reminder he had EIGHT YEARS. And by golly he sure has discredited terror as an issue hasn't he? It's not like he has reminded the American people what a cowardly lightweight he was when these terror plots were being formed and taking place. Nope, you are right Billy. The man is brilliant. He rallied the kooks. The same kooks that are having trouble winning a Senate seat in CT. And he did it with bulging eyes and a crooked finger as the cherry on this masterpiece. Why, I can hear the stampede of asses (Dem symbol of course) filling out the ballots in the "d" column right now. Of course historically Clinton has had the opposite effect of sending voters chasing down the elephant, but, well this year it will be different.
Bill Clinton is a coward. If one were to slap him in the face with a glove and call him out - he would just cry and crawl away. What a disgrace of a man.
Wasn't there a scene in one of the "Lethal Weapon" (or similar) movies where they were supposed to do "Good Cop/Bad Cop" and the "Good" cop forgot and became "Bad Cop?"
It was funny -- and it seems that Hitlery forgot her "Good Cop" role the same way!
I thought it would read, "Raped as many as could!"
President Clinton was no wimp. Now her husband was.
Kristol is one of them country club Republicans.
Bet you she's warming up the ashtray pitching arm for whenever he shows up at "home".
Here's another...
Former President Bubba Babaganoosh didn't get "pushed around." Chris Wallace flatout cleaned his clock. Bubba's tantrum was very unflattering.
No he's not. He NEVER helps. I don't think he's a republican or a conservative at all.
I haven't believed Billy a conservative, since, well? I'm not sure I ever did.
His gushing over Clinton really doesn't surprise me. The only thing that surprises me is that he didn't work in a hit on Rummy in the piece, given the Libs are starting that rerun again this past week.
Wrong, Hillary. Polls pushed Bill everywhere he went. You might say where ever Bill's finger in the wind blew, Bill was soon to follow.
You ain't the only one. LMAO!!
Bill and Hitlery are learning that without the whitehouse power, you can't bully the media as much they could in the past.
Finger wagger freeping --again and again--for the serial rapist.
Finger wagging freeping --again and again--for the serial rapist.
Admin Mod? Can you change the title of this article to the correct one?
"Bill Won't Be Pushed Around...By Anyone but ME!"
Thanks. ;)
I'm certain that boy has learnt a thing or two after taking an ashtray upside the head from 'She Who Shall Not Be Named.' Can you even imagine it? What a Pact With The Devil they both made on their Wedding Day.
And FWIW...does anyone know what their Wedding Anniversay date is? And why it's NEVER been publically celebrated? *GAG* I'm guessing it's October 31st. *SMIRK*
Clinton sounded like a Mafia Don, even down to the attempt at accusing Wallace of trying to make his bones.
Bingo! we have a winner. Clinton was pushed around by terrorists. I love it!
