Were their Western contemporaries Vikings and other northern barbarian tribes? Rome definitely had an alphabet.

"The inscription is indecipherable but scientists hope that further excavations at the site could give clues to its content."

I think it says: "Drink more Ovaltine."

Ironically, it was ancient instructions on how to sneak into other countries illegally.

Actually, most Mexicans consider themselves descendants of the Aztecs (or Mexica, hence Mexico). The Aztecs were a recent arrival to jungle America and were from what today is the American desert region. Goes to show migration and displacement of peoples is not something only European-descendees can do and is not new.

The finding suggests that New World people developed writing some 400 years before their contemporaries in the Western hemisphere.

Huh? Plenty of ancient civilizations had writing.

Who are they counting/not-counting here? And for what purpose?

It says, "Wait for the Europeans to tame the northland then INVADE."

The block was carved from precious serpentine rock, suggesting it was probably a holy object used by high orders of society for some kind of ritual activity, she said. The inscription is indecipherable but scientists hope that further excavations at the site could give clues to its content.

Probably says the south western part of the U.S. is their Gods gift to them. We all have to move.

I skipped most of the post-workday sessions this week because I've got stuff to do, and while I didn't actually do it, I got plenty of needed rest (I'm also nursing a cold or allergies or something). Thanks for asking. :')
