Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
Okay...Durbin is saying now, in case you stopped listening...that when HE was on the Intel committee...they would have meetings, discussing the evidence of WMDS and other information ...
BUT, when he would LEAVE the meeting, he would hear statements by the BUSH ADMINISTRATION...that were TOTALLY OPPOSITE of what was heard by them in the Senate Intelligence Committee.
He is lying out his butt right now...because ROCKEFELLER himself said that Saddam was an IMMINENT threat based on what HE saw during the Intelligence meetings...
Durbin is saying now that everything that the Bush Administration used PRIOR to war as evidence to go to war were LIES...even though Rocky and others on the INTELL committee voted FOR going to war.
Bond breaking in...wanting Durbin to explain exaclty WHERE the intel says that there was NO link between al-queda and Iraq.
Durbin wouldn't answer...said he would show him later..
This is just amazing....the dems are saying that there was never ANY intel to back up Bush's claims????

Now would one begin to get suspicious that maybe Timmy Russert gets suggested questions from Dick Durbin.
Okay - I came back for a minute. (It's like a trainwreck - I stop watching and then turn it back on.)
Durbin has charts and is being calm and making good points. This is the danger of Roberts letting the minority convince a few RINOs to go along with the report. Roberts just laid down and died. I could, as a housewife sitting here, defend these positions better than Roberts has.
I'll be really interested to see how the Republicans defend Cheney's comments on Russert's show.
As I listen to this, I am hoping that Durbin has been set up here. Right now he's saying that the Administration is lying about things they know to be false.
I wonder if the "men and women of the military" that Durbin is all worried about right now...include the ones that ran that "gulag" in Guantanamo Bay.
Bond reading a letter from General Hayden regarding the damage being done to confidential sources, etc. by the dems. They want a confidential communication from a station chief made public and in fact, it has apparently already been referenced in the press. They are going to get people killed. They do not care.
So far, Bond has already picked out 3 places in the report that shows the link between Iraq and al-queda...and then was going to quote some of the dems speeches prior to the war...
But, then said they need to get to port security...but, did have that letter by the CIA Director Michael Hayden.
BAH...there was a thread today..with an article by the NYSun all about evidence of a link between Saddam's Iraq and al-queda...plus, Rockefeller and others gave speeches on the Senate floor AFTER seeing the same evidence they are talking about today..
And that ALL SAID that Saddam was a threat...
SOOOOOO..how can Durbin be right when he comes out today..and says everything the Bush Admin has said to get us into the Iraq war is a LIE????

Durbin has helped set up Cheney on Fat Timmy's show...
Was that the part when Durbin showed the redacted page of the report .. knowing that it's classified intel?

Durbin is obviously lying. It's remarkable. You don't even have to be as up on this stuff as we stay around here to know that. He uses the excuse that he was sworn to secrecy. However, we all know the remarks by Rockefeller, et al. They are going to have to say that they were told not just to be silent, but to go out in public and lie. I mean, that's wha it would take for what Durbin is saying to be true...which it isn't. How CAN he do this and not be struck dead on the spot.
Major Garrett on Fox now....saying that the REP Senators 4 of them, voted DOWN the legislation that Bush wanted re: military tribunals...
SOOOOOOOO...Collins joined the 3 Stooges...to THWART the Intelligence communities capabilities..
They are worried about "the hearts and minds of our enemies" by voting this down.
I guess they don't realize that the terrorists have NO "hearts and minds" that will be won over!!!

NOW..realize that what all of these people are "wrong" about, according to KING LINDSEY...has been the way things have been done for a half a century!!
and all Bush was doing was trying to get legislation so he wouldn't have to fight in court again.

What is worse is...Bond even called them on the Rockefeller Memo...on the floor of the Senate...telling them that he KNOWS that all they are doing today...is following through on their "plans' in that memo to take down Pres. Bush.
They aren't even made to answer to THAT!
