Kids studying so-called "Slogan Tree." (my note: N. Koreans are taught that Kim Il-sung carved trees all over the country in order to encourage people to rise up against Japanese oppression. It is a sheer fabrication cooked up for their propaganda.) The text says, "Elder sister tells us one at a time. She tells us, while pointing at a Slogan Tree." The slogan on the tree says, "Long Live Commander Kim Il-sung" |

Ration Day Today is the ration day. Father said to mother, smiling, "This year we get more ration than last year" "This is all thanks to Marshall Kim Jong-il." "Right, let us work harder on the field." "I agree." Father and mother looked at each other and smiled. |

Well, people normally carve in the trees [or paint as graffiti] short statements with strong sexual or excretory connotations. I myself have seen quite a few of such slogan trees. But - mirabile dictu - it turns out that such slogans could be used for fighting oppressive occupation. Live and learn.

Chilling content indeed, yet a good dose of militarism and nationalism is healthy.
Hell, faced with future Western educational books that might be entitled "Children's Introductory Guide To Homosexual Lifestyles" or "See Mary commit the glories bestiality with Spot".......the NK educational system might be looking good in a few years.

You seem to have a thing for that pic, since you've posted it in another thread. Something you'd like to tell us?

I know this doesn't relate directly to school in the US but it is pretty interesting. Perhaps some on your lists might be interested?

Absolutely...
Never waste a good picture already in memory ready for the paste.

2005(Juche 94 in N. Korean calendar)
That's right, it's really the year 94 in the North Korean calendar!
Their "dear leader", father of the nut case currently running the country, was born in the year 1912, and they consider that the first year in the calendar.
In fact, Kim Il-sung was born on April 15, 1912...the very day of the Titanic disaster.
