You must be quite young, or new to conservative activism.

Most "my party - right or wrong" members on FR are.

Bushbots....wow! ,/i>

What word do you think would better describe a person who really cares nothing about ideology but all about "winning", even if their "team" is now just Democrat-Lite?

Now class...can you say PRESIDENT RODHAM!!!!

If the GOP leadership doesn't want that to happen then they can start governing as fiscal conservatives rather than wealth redistributing socialists.

If they don't then they will lose this election and be replaced with fiscal conservatives in the next cycle.

Don't blame the voters if the party leadership gets chummy with Ted Kennedy.

Well, those things aside, the you have to admit that the pubbies have been working to be more "compassionate" than "conservative"...

When will the big-government "Republicans" learn that taking some people's money from them and giving it to others is not compassion!!

It's wealth redistribution.

It's soft socialism.

It's dishonest.

It's wrong.

...and it also does more long-term damage to those you claim to be "compassionate" toward!

Compassion is an individual virtue, not a collective one. When the people of a nation are mostly individually compassionate, then that nation is compassionate. Compassion can't be legislated nor taxed into existence.

When wealth is taken, by force if necessary, as taxes are, then giving that wealth to others is not compassion. It's not altruism. It's plain, old-fashioned, stealing. It is government mandated, institutionalized theft.

To make some the beneficiaries of that theft, rather than of the rewards of their own honest work, only diminishes them. It serves to destroy their initiative and aspirations. It ruins generations of their children.

Nobody should ever equate the welfare state with the word "compassion". It's a profoundly tragic lie. It must be stopped.

Gee, and I don't suppose that war thing in Iraq and Afganistan has anything to do with the fact that Bush is spending more money.

Um . . . no, it actually doesn't.

What Richard is failing to grasp is how late the hour is and how close the other side is to their seeking dictatorial powers. That once we lose Congress, and then the White House in '08 we will see the RATS implement a host of things to destroy our ability to recover the country. They will re-impose the "fairness doctrine" and they will then sweepingly apply it to internet web sites...forcing self-censorship.

And the Xlintons will resume their campaign of non-stop IRS auditing of enemies.

And this is just a small sample of what they have in store for conservatives.

Could it be that in the "Politics is the art of the Possible," some of us are tired of compromising our principles?

So your "principle" is to hand this country over to the liberals.

Good thinking, butch.

What Richard is failing to grasp is how late the hour is and how close the other side is to their seeking dictatorial powers.

If things are really that dire, then why aren't the Republicans in the congress and executive office embracing socialism at every turn? Shouldn't they be governing like fiscal conservatives so that this "doomsday" scenario won't occur.

Vote Republican no matter who they have as candidates and not matter what your principles dictate.

It is the only way to reduce spending, secure our borders, and encourage liberty and freedom in the USA.

Just like 2004, 2002, 2000, 1998, 1996, 1994 1992, 1990...2006 is crucial and could be the turning point for our country.

Anything less than straight ticket Republican voting is the same as electing Hillary Clinton and other Liberals.

GOP: "All your votes are belong to us."

(Do I need to put a 'sarcasm' tag on that?)

Are you still a Bush Republican ? You may be if you:

... push your car to work every day when its not running properly. Although your transportation situation would be made far better with another car, you refuse to admit you made the wrong purchase in the first place.

... catch your wife in bed with another man, but decide not to divorce her because you refuse to admit it was a mistake marrying her and figure anyone else you marry would cheat on you more.

etc., etc., Blah, Blah
