Hahaha! I love that graph! Not what it represents, but the graph itself.

No longer call yourself "a Republican" but rather a Reagan Republican or a Reagan conservative No-Nose Republican.

Are you a No-Nose Republican? Take this handy little test and find out.

You may be a No-Nose Republican if you: Push your car over a cliff because you're mad at it for not running properly. Although your transportation situation is made far worse, you feel HAPPY because you got even with that dastardly car.

You may be a No-Nose Republican if you: Divorce your spouse for annoying you. Although your personal life is now a disaster, you feel HAPPY because you got even with that annoying spouse.

You may be a No-Nose Republican if you: Cut off your hand because you dropped an pricey object and it's now broken. Although you're crippled for life, you feel HAPPY because you got even with that stupid hand.

You may be a No-Nose Republican if you: CUT OFF YOUR NOSE, BECAUSE YOU HAVE A PIMPLE ON YOUR FACE. Although your face is now a hideous sight, you feel HAPPY because you got even with and showed that pimple.

Ain't just the wars in Iraq and Afganistan where this group of legislators and president are spending my money pal.

Check out the figures and even a blind guy can see enormous spending increases in school spending, transportation as well as pork and nearly every other govt scheme.........

That is not the Reagan or republican way
Less govt is better govt. Now that is a Reagan republican.

Again WND and its anti-American idiots want the terrorist to win. If the Democrats win we need not worry about another election as the Islamic terrorist will be the next government. And although I supported (with all my heart) Reagan, I am still upset that he did not have the guts to kill all of the Hezdevils after they killed over 240 marines in Lebanon.

So now we have "conservatives", who never even heard of Richard Viguerie, denigrating not only his comments, but even his contributions to the movement, And who tell us that voting "Republican" is more important than voting conservative.

Now THAT --- THAT is what the republicans of the 50's, 60's and 70's said.

old news.... bush (or any republican leader) puts on a left sock and Viguerie starts whining.... an unhappy collection of activists is prime fodder for direct mail barons like Richard.... angry people give money; happy people don't. Complete self-interest. Like on immigration -- if we got to a compromise, anger would dissipate and fund-raising would take a hit.

It's appearing more and more that the Republican Big Tent isn't big enough for the "Compassionate Conservatives," the "Reaganites," the "Libertarians," the "neolibertarians," the "True Conservatives," the "neoConservatives," the "Religious Right," the "Moderate Republicans," the "Strict Constructionists," the "anti-abortionists," and the "Republicans Can-do-no-wrongs (Bushbots)."

Why do you suppose that is?

Could it be that as a party we've abandoned the core beliefs that brought us together in the first place?

Could it be that in the "Politics is the art of the Possible," some of us are tired of compromising our principles?

Could it be that in the attempts to bring new voters in the front of the tent (SS Drugs for the elderly, Amnesty for the Illegals, NCLB for the yuppie liberals with kids...) that we're losing our base out the back of the tent?

Could it be that the RNC is leading us off a cliff and the Bushbots are the herdsmen?

Richard Viguerie, the man who invented the idea of using direct mail as a means of going over the heads of what he considered to be a biased establishment press, says it's time for radical action to save the Republican Party from itself.

He has done this every two years for at least a 14 years or more. The media runs his trash republicans stuff. Reagan used his mailing lists to solicit funds in the 1980 campaign and that was it. He had no influence in the Reagan campaigns or administrations. He did sell Reagan a mailing list.

I think it is true. Trouble is that conservatives are between a rock and a hard place. We want and need to teach these RINOs a lesson, but there is no way to do that without screwing ourselves even more. As bad as the Republicans have behaved in the last 6 years, it is NOTHING to what we can expect from the Dems if they take control. Scary.

People that think it wouldn't be much worse or different with the Dems are delusional.

The only real weapon we have is to put more conservatives in primaries against RINOs. And if anyone here as noticed, the administration and party just about always back RINOS over conservatives.

You're exactly right. Viguerie should be thanked for his early contributions to the genesis of Conservatism, especially when he "borrowed" the Goldwater campaign's direct mail lists.

I have always looked at Viguerie as a conservative, but a conservative more interested in advancing Richard Viguerie than the conservatism he espoused. In 1980 Viguerie opposed Ronald Reagan in his quest for the Republican nomination for POTUS. He instead pushed the nomination of Congressman Phil Crane for POTUS, saying that Crane was the real conservative and the man most likely to defeat the hapless carter. Interestingly enough, Crane lost to someone named Melissa Bean in the 2004 Congressional elections.

He is a conservative, and has supported conservatives, but has at times been a negative force in conservative political development.

I agree.. If we want more conservatives in office, we have to vote for them in the primaries.. That is the key. Not letting the rats win to teach us the lesson..

Gee, and I don't suppose that war thing in Iraq and Afganistan has anything to do with the fact that Bush is spending more money.

Look at non-military discretionary spending. It is through the roof too! Bush (and this "Republican" Congress are some of the biggest spenders DC has ever seen.

They seem to pick and choose the conservative values they will follow. Lower taxes, sure. Lower spending, hell no! And the number of conservative values they choose to follow seems to be decreasing.

I will give them credit for the good they do, lower taxes, national security, judicial appointments. But I'm not going to drink the kool aid and blindly approve of the crap too, illegal immigration, massive spending.

This fool doesn't know what he wants, when he wants it or with whom:

Richard Viguerie, the conservative direct-mail magnate, is resigned to Bush's ascendancy and supportive. Eight months ago, Viguerie dismissed Bush as an "Elvis impersonator," opining that "Bush has never taken the lead on an issue of importance to conservatives." Now Viguerie is all for Bush. "He's within an acceptable range," sighs Viguerie. The word "acceptable" emerges often when conservatives discuss the GOP nominee.

More from the fool
“[Richard Viguerie], who also is a leading fund-raiser for conservative candidates, indicated he would not support Reagan in 1984, adding: ‘I'm very disillusioned with a president that walks away from the Soviet Union.’” -- “Conservative Leader Blasts Reagan on Plane Reaction,” Associated Press, September 8, 1983

“‘Just like Jimmy Carter gave conservatives the back of the hand, we see the same thing happening in the Reagan administration,’” said Richard Viguerie, the direct-mail wizard who is the leading fund-raiser for conservative candidates and causes. ‘Almost every conservative I have talked to in the last two months has been disappointed in the initial appointments to the Reagan cabinet,’ Viguerie said.”-- “Conservatives Angry with Reagan,” Associated Press, January 27, 1981

“‘The White House slapped us in the face,’ says Richard A. Viguerie, the conservative direct-mail expert. ‘The White House is saying you don't have a constituency we're concerned about. We don't care about you.’” -- “For Reagan and the New Right, the Honeymoon Is Over,” Washington Post, July 21, 1981

“[M]any longtime conservative activists are not buying Reagan's rhetoric. ‘The emperor has no clothes on; just about every conservative I know is now acknowledging it,’ said Viguerie.” -- “Reagan Seeks to Calm His Right-Wing Critics” Los Angeles Times, September 6, 1987

“In other important matters he [Reagan] has changed sides and he is now allied with his former adversaries, the liberals, the Democrats and the Soviets," said Viguerie.” -- “Conservatives Hit Reagan on Treaty,” Los Angeles Times, December 5, 1987

"If ever there was a case for divided government, here it is," writes Viguerie.

Maybe...but I'd rather have the Republicans remain in control of the House and (ha!) Senate, especially since it looks like they aren't going to field a viable 2008 Presidential candidate anyway. America is just going to have to get Hillary out of its system - the best hope is that by 2012 national outrage at the MSM ("You bastards pushed this crazy broad on us!") will led to fundamental changes and a permanent lack of credibility for the Democrat Left.
