Run, Newt, Run! (he’s back, and he’s doing the kicking)
NRO ^ | July 21, 2006, | Rich Lowry

Posted on 07/21/2006 4:35:35 AM PDT by IrishMike

The casual TV viewer has probably noticed two things during the past few days — there’s a war in the Middle East, and Newt Gingrich is commenting on it. Gingrich has been a ubiquitous analyst on the war — ubiquity being one of the tireless, outsized former House speaker’s favorite qualities. In between appearances in his role as a commentator for the Fox News Channel, Gingrich announced on Meet the Press that we are in the midst of World War III. A few days later, Hezbollah declared that it welcomed World War III, nicely capturing the moment: Simultaneous with its shooting war with Israel, Hezbollah is in a war of words with Newt Gingrich.

The old conventional wisdom about Gingrich was that we wouldn’t have him to kick around anymore. The new conventional wisdom is that he’s back, and he’s doing the kicking. Ousted by his own party after its losses in the 1998 midterm elections, Gingrich has reestablished himself as a party leader through sheer intellectual energy. He has had something intelligent to say about literally every issue of the hour, from health care to Katrina to the war on terror. “He has helped himself immensely — he’s all over the place,” says former Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie.

Not a prayer. Newt is a panderer. Here merely says what people want to hear. That why he out there spewing all this nonsense about "World War 3". He is a Conservative Bill Clinton. A glib speaker with no core principals other then the desire for power.

His past personal life will haunt him forever.

...only because he is a Conservative Republican, of course.

Maybe, but what conservative things have the Republicans done since Newt?

C-SPAN followed Newt around at some state fair a couple months back, and you could see that he doesn't have that "warmth for the people" that you see in GWB or even Joe Biden. Newt's up in his own head a lot while doing the meet and greet.

But that's his only flaw, IMO. Otherwise brilliant and almost always dead-on correct.

I'd vote for him and even support his campaign without hesitation.

Wasn't he also making bizarre appearances with Hillary a while back ?
I'll never forget when Newt was speaker, he refused to investigate the B1 Bob Dornan scandal where illegals voted to defeat him , and he also allowed a vote and passage of the Lautenberg gun control amendment. Those items didn't sit well with me .

I'm afraid his personal life gives him too much 'baggage'.
The dems would play it up and I don't think voters would ignore it.

"he’s all over the place" He'll be that all right especially when the MSM gets him if he runs. They'll love it, he's an easy target for character assassination.

"A glib speaker with no core principals other then the desire for power."

Yeah, right.

Thanks for your invaluable input, as usual.

I can say with 100% certainty that the United States of America will not have a president named "Newt" in my lifetime.

I was thinking about that. The MSM put him through the meat grinder when he divorced his wife. Maybe he didn't do it the smartest way, but he had to know they were waiting to pounce on anythong they could to demonize him.

He also spearheaded the 1994 Contract With America, oversaw the retaking of the House, and at the very least established some guideline principals for the Republican Congress we've had since then (even if they don't follow those principals).

We could run Mother Theresea and they'd make her look worse than Jeffery Dahmer. Might as well as get hanged for a sheep as a lamb.

I want to vote for the next presidential contender that promises the following without reservation:

1) Close the Borders. really, no bs...close em and kick out the illegals.

2) Remove all non-citizen Islamics and declare that they are a cult and not a religion.

3) Opens up oil drilling and new refineries as part of war-footing emergency action.
