That's the subject of a new Issue Backgrounder just published by the Independence Institute, co-authored by Paul Gallant, Joanne Eisen, and [David Kopel]. The monograph details how U.N.-backed gun confiscation programs in Kenya and Uganda have led to murder, torture, and arson, and have turned tens of thousands of pastoral tribespeople into starving refugees. It is currently available only in PDF, but we hope to have a html version soon.
Disarm the people so they can't avenge the atrocities.
Or even resist the atrocities in the first place.
Yeah exactly.
This article should be required reading for gun control advocates.
"from my cold dead hands..."
bttt
Perhaps something along the lines of "if you try to take my gun and freedom,I'll be forced to kill you".
That's the implication of the more pithy, "From my cold dead hands" which has an "understood", "and I ain't going easy".
But in way you're right. Both UN bureaucrats and gun grabbing US PoliCritters should be well aware, that they'll be the main target, should they order the police, military, or Blue Helmets to confiscate guns from law abiding citizens. They can't get them all at once, and they should think about that.

Great backgound info. you published here. The real problem with all these piss ant countries is they have no 2nd Amendment. Every time we conquer a new country the very first thing we should do is make them pass the 2nd Amendment. Otherwise only the criminals and insurgents will have all the guns.

Except that we do exactly the opposite. In every country we've 'conquered'--temporarily, of course--we've instituted or enforced gun control laws. Iraq is yet another example where this is the case. If we handed out AK-47s and pistols to the general populace of Iraq we'd probably have been better off.
