Just for the heck of it, I went to DU (I know, I know) and joined up. I tried to engage in a few discussions. I mean actual, real discussions. You know, like:
DUmmie: Bush Lied!!!
Me: About what, exactly?
DUmmie: He lied!! He lied!! He said Saddam had WMD and he didn't.
Me: He had chemical weapons. He used them on the Kurds.
DUmmie: And WE'RE THE ONES WHO SOLD THEM TO HIM!! MURDERER!!! IDIOT!!!
*ZOT*
And all my posts were deleted lest anyone actually read them and be tempted to think. That's how it goes in La-La land.
Actually, I went wondering if I'd spent too much time at Free Republic, and maybe I wasn't hearing the other side of the story. Well... I heard it.
And that's my summary.
I've made over 500 posts on that site, mostly bashing them, but the funny thing is they never get it. I'm very sneaky with what I post, and I haven't got caught yet.
And yeah, if you don't hate Bush on every issue you will get tombstoned (as they call it). I've seen people that have been lifelong Democrats disagree with them on an issue get banned, some are even donors. They all follow in 100% unison and anyone who doesn't gets banned.

I signed up once and tried your experiment. I think I lasted about three posts, and I was trying to not be provocative. If you even think about setting your toe outside their intellectual reservation, you get zotted. Toleraqnce and open-mindedness my a$$. They are the most totalitarian bunch of thought police I know of.
