"Turkey's Islamic-rooted government has ordered a 500-year old Latin inscription believed to have been carved by the Knights of St. John erased from an old castle, newspaper reports said Tuesday."
"In the written order, the Culture Minister told museum officials to scrape away the inscription "Inde deus abest," or "Where God does not exist," carved at the entrance to the dungeon of the Castle of St. Peter in the Aegean resort of Bodrum, Hurriyet, Sabah and Milliyet newspapers reported Tuesday."
"The sign could be considered offensive to devout Muslims who believe in God's omnipresence.
"Baffling censorship on 500-year-old inscription," Sabah said in a banner headline.
"500-year-old inscription has no historic value!" read the headline in Milliyet.
The Castle of St. Peter is now a museum of underwater archaeology displaying ship wrecks. The castle's dungeon -- the Gatineau dungeon -- was used as a lockup and torture chamber from 1513 to 1523."

GGG?

Inde cogit abest............
where logic doesnt exist?
Where thought does not exist, I believe..........
Shades of the Taliban blowing up ancient Buddhas...
Don't Christians also believe that God is omnipresent? Yeah, but only Muslims are likely to kill someone over this inscription...
If only the Islamists could find a Way to scrape the same inscription from off of the doors of their hearts, the world would be a radically better place...
They'll have the bomb soon. Imagine how many other things they'll feel the urge to 'erase' once they have the means to do so.
I was discussing with my wife the other day that one can tell alot about a culture in regards to their scholarship. One area is archeaology. If a culture has an interest in digging up the past and doing some honest historical research, it shows that they are looking to advance into the future, joining the family of man. However, some cultures try to destroy artifacts, rewrite history, erase historical records, prevent archeological digs, or prevent research. These cultures are outright barbarians.
Turkey? This muslim country doesn't belong in the E.U., N.A.T.O. or in the west.
Shades of the Taliban. The Taliban were not always violent. Nor were they always influenced by Wahhabi Islam. But they got that way and it was no accident.
If you do some checking and find out that the Sauds are funding lots of schools and mosques in Turkey, you can be pretty sure that something bad is going to happen in Turkey down the road.
inde tempus abest
whoa. =P
And this is the Muslim country with a modern secular democratic state.
Unbelievable.....
These same Turks sealed up the East Gate of Jerusalem around 800 years ago as well to prevent the Messiah from entering the city.
Tempus fugit?........

Gods, Graves, Glyphs (alpha order)
Is it possible that a muslim could look at that inscription and say "What stupid christians" and then just move along? NoooOOOooo. They have to erase it to prevent being offended. Idiots, all.
