Better to give Repubs the message in 2006 that we're unhappy with their policies then risk getting Hillary in 2008. Maybe if enough of the Repubs are thrown out or scared in the mid-terms, they'll wake up for 2008. I hope.

Well here's a scenario for you. The Dems take the house in 2006 and start impeachment hearings. Things get real nasty and the general public is extremely turned off of politics - their all alike, there's no difference between the parties, etc. When 2008 rolls around we get a bunch of middle of the road moderates who promise to change the tone in Washington and make nice, nice. It doesn't sound like a fertile breeding ground for a "real conservative" to me.

Re: 06 elections:

The problem is largely the Senate. The Congress is on the right side of just about everything but spending. I think I saw that Dewine just won a primary? That's a darn shame. It would take a powerful and vocal conservative to direct the fight to get rid of selected Rinos while maintaining our majority.

Unfortunately without another conservative leader, the RNC knows that we only have two choices - part time status quo leftists or full time socialist leftists.

Hard to believe that Repubs have not gotten the message already. They just have not acted upon it.

That's the same thing that I'm starting to think. The Republican base is getting more and more frustrated with their ignorance in fixing the border, spending and oil problems. And yet, Washington just turns and looks the other way!

Hate to say it but if it takes having to live with 2 years of Dem' controlled congress to fix this party by 2008...I would be in favor. I know this would be terrible but I think that if this were to happen maybe then the Repubs would WAKE UP. A growing portion of the base has had it with the pandering and inactivity that's going on in Washington.

they'll wake up for 2008. I hope.

There is another side to this HOPE!!

What if the GOP, seeing the Dems SWEEP into power after the mid-terms, believe this to be a MANDATE that the nation is turning LEFT!

I don't see why it is a LOCK that the GOP will see the error of their ways.

That being said the idea of having......

1. "CONYERS" launch investigations up the wazoo and leading the impeachment of the POTUS during a time of war
2. Commissioning a SLAVE reparations study further denigrating the United States.
3. "PELOSI" running rough shod over the House pushing a Marxist agenda.
4. The nightmare of Rangel in charge of Ways and Means.
5. Not a single conservatives appointed to the bench during the remaining two years.

This is more than a bad dream......but just as likely as the GOP getting the WORD by LOSING congress.......this could be the beginning of the end of our REPUBLIC.

Exactly! We've been screaming for a few years with no result. Perhaps if a few got voted out in 06 they'd get the message. Only then could we save 08. If we squeak by in 06, and the Republicrats continue their leftward path, people will be so disgruntled, that Hillary would get elected in 08.

Those of use who disagree with the current state of the party only do so to help make it better in order to prevent it from collapsing. We do it to prevent Hillary in 08.

Unfortunately, if you allow a Dem House and/or Senate to come in in 2006, you greatly INCREASE the chances of a Prez. Hillary in 08. Simple truth.

They will control the agenda, launch impeachment, dominate the media. You will rue the day.
