This seems a tad wasteful. But then again, our pal the government has never really been a penny pincher. Still, $250 mil a piece? Please.

Why not have the President fly in whatever our Marines are actually being required to use?

I bet a nice border fence could be built for less than the cost of the President's helicopter fleet. A fence sounds really cheap by that comparison.

Just how long does this thing spend in the air at any given moment? I thought Marine 1 took the President and family from the WH to Camp David, or Andrews Air Force Base. Are either of these trips that extensive to require meals in-flight or a bathroom?
Hey, the president can do like my grandfather used to insist before trips..."Go now before we leave, cause I'm not stopping til we get there!"

Note: This is being done BEFORE Dubai takes over nine weapons and parts companies in USA. He's not so dumb after all.

Bush's intention is to make sure the New Marine One is large enough to carry Hillary & Bill.

"Cormorants and their British counterparts. Having suffered through a number of groundings, the type is now have severe tail rotor problems. Replacement titanium rotor half hubs are expected to be the cure."
They are already replacing it with the Sikorsky H-92 Superhawk:

I think they ran out of gas. The blades aren't moving. Does that thing have an airbag?

I'm betting that the price tag is for more than just the choppers. I bet it includes spares, tools, consumables to support the choppers, modifications to hangers and support facilities, technical documentation, and training.

While we're buying this "Lockheed" helicopter,
and the "Northrup" aerial tankers, we might as well buy the A380 for the new Air Force one.
Used to be we used American dollars to buy American hardware for the military and government.
What - no Chinese helicopters available.
