Checking in From Oak Ridge, Tennessee
Self | April 8, 2006 | Tennessee_Bob

0545 - 04082006 - We're ok here in Oak Ridge as far as I can tell. Warnings and Watches through the night, lots of heavy lightning, thunder, heavy rain. Stepped outside the school during my daughter's play to keep an eye on the weather, and it was constant lighting across the horizon.

My daughter slept in the living room with ear plugs, the Sheltie kept running back and forth between the two of us. Still dark out there, so I don't know if we sustained any external damage, but no leaks here in the house, and power was never lost.

WBIR.com reports eleven dead across Tennessee so far, most in Sumner county, about three hours west of here, just north of Nashville. Crossville had at least one touchdown, but no fatalities reported at this time, however, heavy damage from what I can see on the news.

Brother was at work at his hospital in Nashville and spent time in the basement, sister-in-law was at home with the kids in Franklin, they were in the crawlspace several times.

Weather service calls for more rain/showers today, but nothing heavy in their forecast.

Lord have mercy on the souls of the deceased.

Thanks for your report.

We had a brutal T-storm at 2:00AM here in Vicksburg, MS, but it lasted less than an hour. One window cracked.

Checking in from near Dalton, GA. We had HAIL! About a 15 minute really nasty bit there with INSANE wind and rain, and hail...most of the rest came and went....each time it was about 10, 15 min of thunder and heavier rain then 30-60 of lighter rain and nothing else.

Prayers out to you and everyone in Tenn....
We had some nasty thunderstorm type weather last night (in Va)
No damage so far that I have seen, but it is still dark.
Some sort of warning to 10:00 this morning- it does not look *good* outside!
Stay safe!

Stay safe. On a lighter note, for a diversion for all you volunteers, have you seen this?

I am in Tipton County, and we had a huge storm go through at 3am. Don't think that it was strong enough to do any damage. Looks like a volatile spring.

Haven't had rain here since February.
Move to Florida Bob! We only get the occasional hurricane. You just have to put up with the blue hairs!
Glad you're okay

Nothing much here north of 'Nooga, either. Just wet and noisy last night. The Cumberland Plateau splits the storm complexes most of the time and they go north and south of us here on the plateau. Sure looks like Galatin and Nashville took a beating, though.....

You are probably getting what blew through here in southern CA a few days ago. Steady and heavy rain again. This is becoming a tropical area around here. It's clean water. You can leave a glass outside to collect it and drink it. I want 1000 seagulls flying around here 10 miles inland like they did last year. They chase other, more noisy birds away. They are silent and fat like turkeys.

We line in Downtown Nashville and it look ominous coming in. We had hail and a quick storm, but nothing like Gallatin!

We are heading out to Goodlettsville to check on a rental property we have. We have not heard from our tenants.

I hope the people of Tn. doesn't fall for this guy. His family history should tell everyone how well he has been trained.
