The cost is in the copyright (somebody owns the rights ya know) and merchants markups. The disk duplication costs are trivial.

Yeah I know.

In other words - movies going south of the border and then coming back.

How smart is that?

This is a truly great film. Henry Fonda (and Charles Bronson and Jason Robards and Claudia Cardinale) is brilliant in this film.

Yeah its derivative, but a derivative that pays homage to the Western. Really a beauty and IMO the best western made outside the US.

Am I wrong... or is this an American film?

Can you imagine what it would cost to make this film now?

Mind-blowing, the cost.

Rent the movie from Netflix. Stick it in your computer and burn a copy. A lot cheaper. Don't send your money to Hollywood.

The ominous sound of the harmonica played by Charles Bronson's character is haunting, unforgettable. Directed by Sergio Leone, a true classic.

Texas band:

And she runs through her days
With a smile on her face
And she runs and she waits
And I wait
We can drive to any place
Day and night to cross this state
And in the mornin' into Mexico
We will wake up
We will wake up
We will yeah yeah
I will be with her...yeah
I find a window in the kitchen
and I let myself in
I rumage through the refigerator
find myself a beer
I can't believe I'm really here
and she's lyin' in that bed
I can almost feel her touch
And her anxious breath
I stumble in the hallway
Outside her bedroom door
I hear her call up to me
I hear the fear in her voice
She pulls her covers tighter
I press against the door
I will be with her tonight...yeah
I will be with her tonight
I will be with her tonight...yeah
I will be with her tonight
I will be her yeah yeah
ohh ohh...yeah yeah
ohh ohh...yeah yeah
I will be with her

"Once Upon a Time in the West" was an Italian production, filmed in the Tabernas desert in and around Almeria,Spain, Cinecitta Studios in Rome, Monument Valley,Utah and several locations in Arizona.

I can't find any reference to one scene ("I could crush you like a wormy apple") which I always thought was filmed at the Anastasi ruins in Canyon De Chelly National Monument, Arizona. That would take some research.

I have the widescreen version from TCM on videotape, but would love to have the DVD..now I'm compelled to pull it out and give it a watch, it's been several years since I last watched it.

Henry Fonda .... Frank
Claudia Cardinale .... Jill McBain
Jason Robards .... Cheyenne
Charles Bronson .... Harmonica
Gabriele Ferzetti .... Morton (railroad baron)
Paolo Stoppa .... Sam
Woody Strode .... Stony (member of Frank's gang)
Jack Elam .... Snaky (member of Frank's gang)
Keenan Wynn .... Sheriff (auctioneer)
Frank Wolff .... Brett McBain
Lionel Stander .... Barman
