I have never heard this slander either. Mrs. Simpson was an American divorcee. Which was worse in English society at the time - being an American, or a divorcee - is debatable.

The book about her was on sale in fine book stores everywhere. Like I said, it is not slander if it is true. They included a photo of her in an Asian brothel. She was twice divorced.

Some things about Germany versus England are very strange indeed. R. Hess was called a fake when he was "released." X-rays of the liberated Hess failed to show serious wounds he had when he was in combat. Also, he did not seem to know his son, as I recall.

Hitler was very good about getting what he wanted without fighting. There was a definite claque in England that sided with Hitler. I don't mean just Joe Kennedy. Native Britons.

The Brits hailed Nelville Chamberlain for "peace in our time."

I think the whole story is quite complicated. It is a good thing Winston Churchill was there to lead when the time came.

I would want to see the whole quote before I assumed that Prince Phillip was talking about the royals being jealous. It could be that he was talking about British society or European society in general and the reporter took the quote and tagged it onto his discussion about the royal family.

In the 1930's, the roayl family was wealthy and well-respected. I cannot imagine that they would have been envious of Jewish success. That makes no sense.

It WOULD make sense if one were talking about British aristocracy, which started to fall on hard times in the 30's due to not having sources of income other than investments and their estates.

Prince Philip was not a member of the British royal family until 1948 so he was likely only speaking about his comparatively minor family and other nobles, not the Windsors.

I'm reminded of Reagen visiting some cemetary in which some Nazis were buried. Big to-do over it. Okay, from memory,
the cemetary had ~125 graves, 29 were Nazis. So, it's okay to "shaft" the sacrifices of those that were not Nazis?

Using that logic, the Joseph Kennedy, Sr., a Nazi sympathizer is buried at Arlington...
