Bingo!
W did this with Iraq. The UN, the House and the Senate. But you'd never know it the way the Swimmer and his incoherent moonbat liberal buddies inside the beltway keep ranting.

So why does Iran want a few nukes? To start a war with us? That would lead to certain annihilation, besides, they would lose profits from oil sales. Eventually all nations will have nukes. I'm not sold on the pre-emptive strike. Somebody sell me.
It is a shame that political fallout is considered more of a threat by our leaders than nuclear-armed psychopaths.
When Jay Rockefeller makes a trip to Iran, we will know the attack is imminent.
If we are going to bomb Iran back into the non-nuclear age, Russia and China will have to participate as well (meaning joining the attack with planes and missiles.)
Not that big of a stretch to me. It would certainly send a strong message that the world is now a different place. China and Russia have strong national interests in seeing some long-term world stability for once as well.
You said -- "If we are going to bomb Iran back into the non-nuclear age, Russia and China will have to participate as well (meaning joining the attack with planes and missiles.) "
That's never going to happen in a million years.

Who am I to disagree---but here goes. We should not do it without Israel. Those who would scream loud if Israel did it, will scream just as loud if we do it on behalf of Israel. Meanwhile Americans will ask why, when it's Israel threatened the most, Israel is just sitting back letting us take the risks.
Mutaully Assured Destruction (MAD) wil not work with these nutjobs.
"Mutaully Assured Destruction (MAD) wil not work with these nutjobs."
And that in a nutshell (if you parden the pun), is why we can never, ever allow them to get the bomb. The Soviets at lease were Godless so feared death and could be influenced by MAD. Those who believe Allah will protect them, will not.
It is a terrifying age of assymetric warfare. The west can crush anyone on the battlefield, the terrorists therefore choose not to enter the battlefield. One suitcase bomb, driven by car from mexico in a US City. It doesn't bare thinking about. The Iranian state and its proxies are a danger to our way of lives.
There are no easy solutions. The best outcome would be an 1979 style revolution other way - but it has to *appear* to be internally led.
From previous news bits, we know that quite a few countries are concerned and may participate in doing something about the situation. Our most general and obvious choices are:
* To do no military action and allow Iran to build nuclear missiles. Likely consequences would be that Iran would threaten western Europe (given Israel's anti-ballistic missile program and western Europe having only short and medium range offensive nukes for reacting to create thousands of Iranian martyrs and fire-up the "Arab world") or even scheme to export weapons by sea against us.
* To use the multinational effort (previous news bits) to take out Iran's weapons facilities and occupy it in the next step of the War on Terror. The occupation of Iran and debriefing (like denazification) of its people would demoralize and subdue the worldwide "Jihad." Iran is the Middle East bully to topple and make nice.
I think we should take them out immediately, with all the consequences that it entails. The results will be far better than those down the road.
Israel help the USA a lot. WW2 because Jews led USA win the war. In Israel-Arab war on 1948, USA can't provide weapon to them but throught illegal mean ppl volunteer purchase weapon and go thought backdoor. USA know but let it go, see how Israel using lousy weapon defeat Arab who got everything. Without Israel, our life is in danger. If Israel been attack, i will join army with Jews.
