(2006-03-10) — Dubai Ports World, the Arab state-owned firm that recently bought control of six major American sea ports, today gave in to pressure from Congress and agreed to sell its U.S. operations to Arkansas-based Wal-Mart Stores.

The giant retailer’s CEO, Lee Scott, immediately addressed lawmakers’ concerns about security by announcing that blue-vested Cargo Greeters would be stationed at close intervals on docks, piers and tug vessels.

Clinton Quiet About Past Wal-Mart Ties By BETH FOUHY, AP Political Writer

NEW YORK - With retail giant Wal-Mart under fire to improve its labor and health care policies, one Democrat with deep ties to the company — Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton — has started feeling her share of the political heat.

Clinton served on Wal-Mart's board of directors for six years when her husband was governor of Arkansas. And the Rose Law Firm, where she was a partner, handled many of the Arkansas-based company's legal affairs.

Clinton had kind words for Wal-Mart as recently as 2004, when she told an audience at the convention of the National Retail Federation that her time on the board "was a great experience in every respect."

But in recent months, as the company has become a target for Democratic activists, she has largely steered clear of any mention of Wal-Mart. And late last year, Clinton's re-election campaign returned a $5,000 contribution from Wal-Mart, citing "serious differences with current company
practices."

Good thing Sams Club didn't buy them, then only member ships would be allowed to dock.

The suggestion, obviously, came from the "Former Occupant of the Oval Office, 1993-2001", who wanted to protect his standing with both the Walton family AND Dubai Port World, by bringing together a corporate suitor and an embarrassed enterprise in a potential resolution to what has become an awkward situation.

On an objective level, this parody may have large elements of truth. It SOUNDS entirely plausible.
