Awaiting the Almighty (Giuliani, Will he run or not)
MSNBC (Newsweek) ^ | March 13, 2006 issue | Howard Fineman

But those who say he'll fold may not know the man, his history—or what he is really up to. Decades of jousting with the New York press have left him with a hide of titanium. Without much national notice, he's worked the rubber-chicken circuit, making 140 appearances in the last two years. He's been smoking cigars with Ahnold in California, and is slated to do fund-raisers for him, as well as the big GOP Senate dinner in Washington this spring. A few weeks ago in Florida, he did the drop-by of all drop-bys as the "surprise guest" at the annual convention of the Global Pastors Network. He wowed them with his energy and his revival-style witness to his faith in Jesus. Ralph Reed, a godfather of religious conservatives, thinks Giuliani's charisma may help him overcome his social-issues liberalism in the Bible belt. "He can take control of a room better than any politician I've seen," said Reed.

At least with Rudy, you know where he stands. Way too socially liberal for my tastes, but America first all the way. Beats the heck out of any RAT I can envision.

I don't know if he would be better than a rat. A rat would be opposed by Republicans in Congress. A RINO would get everything through the Republicans no matter how radical and socialist.

I really hope he is not our nomination and I doubt he will be.

I'd love to see primary debates between Allen and Guiliani. Hope they booth run.

Well said. I believe that if Rudy or McCain get the Republican nomination, Hillary wins in '08.

I'm over Giuliani. I don't care if he runs. He passed on his best chance to good for America when he stepped aside and allowed Hillary to waltz into the Senate.

He is of little use to me with his pro-gay, pro-abortion positions.

Rudy's stated criteria ("depends on whether or not I can raise enough money") is clearly not going to stop him because he can.

From my perspective, I hope Rudy runs and gets the Republican nomination. Two Liberal New Yorkers running against each other for president ought to open the door to a true, third line candidate who represents Conservative American values.

Rudy would eviscerate Hillary in any debate ... Whether you like him or whether you don't, he projects leadership. Rudy threw Arafat out of Lincoln Center. Rudy gave the Saudi Prince back his check. All Hillary Rotten has given us is a failed attempt at National Health, Gandhi's Gas Station and The Plantation. Heck, while Sen. Rotten is denouncing DPW as contrary to National Security, her own husband BJ is lobbying for it. Rudy stands for leadership - Rotten stands for triangulation. Now Rudy might not be what conservatives desire but he would most certainly put the kibosh to Shrillary.

Unless the conservatives are such a small group in votes, Guliani will never make it. Now I would love to see him as the the head of FEMA. Now, that is the man for that job! :)

Rudy is the only one who would beat Hillary like a drum. Plus he would rip into the WOT with his awesome articulation.

I don't disagree with anything you said, unless you try to extrapolate it into a national win for Rudy.

Given the events of the past weeks regarding America's holocaust.

I can tell all you Neo What Culture War Juniors that if a pro-choice candidate like Rudy or Condi gets the nod that they won't get my support.

I have not waited almost 40 years to turn the tide on culture war for this crap.

You youngbloods can call me whatever you'd like, this ain't conservatism by any name.

Frankly, I'm not excited by any of the potential Republican nominees and there's been too much partisanship all over the board. I'm going to take a giant leap and suggest Donald Trump. There is a petition going around to convince him to run. I have no idea where he stands partywise but he would certainly be a welcome change from the died-in-the-wool politicans who are all in the same bed IMO. Certainly he knows what to do and how to get it done.

If the Democrat leadership would allow it, Rudy actually represents where the Democrat party should be.
