These are the remarks I made at the funeral yesterday. Kim proofread and made improvements to them and stood beside me while I spoke. I actually wandered my way into this with some comments on the weather (snowing - like the day Elena was born seven years ago this Friday), the Music (my sister Jill sang Ave Maria. Same song as at our wedding but sounded so different in this different context), and the picture Elena slept with (which I’ll write about later).

Reading this brought tears to the eyes of a 49 year old Marine, father and husband.
No one should have to suffer the death of their own child.

Praying for this sad soul and his family.
IIRC, Daniel explains that Elena was sick with what they thought was a flu. She got worse and Kim(the mom) took her to the hospital. She got blue in the car, Kim called EMTs and she died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Right now unknown cause of death. THis just happened last week. His blog is real time daily as he deals with the heartbreak.

"Just before noon yesterday, I went downstairs to see if she needed anything. She asked for a little fizzy water and then threw up all that she had had in the past few hours. I took her upstairs and washed her off and put her in fresh pajamas. I threw the slip cover from the couch into the wash and set her back in front of the television. Kim came home from work early to take care of Elena. It’s not fun to be home sick - and Kim wanted her to be comfortable.
When I got home from picking Maggie up at school, Kim had me look at Elena. Her face had sort of a purplish look to it. She called the doctor and they said bring her in. Three blocks away Kim called 911 as Elena was unresponsive. She died in the ambulance and could not be revived at the hospital."
Whew. Prayers lifted.
Prayers lifted for Elena's family. May our good Lord hold them tightly during this time of loss.
We will pray for her family and for her soul. It is really painful to read.

Oh my goodness. This is so horribly sad. It sounds as though it might have been some sort of obstruction. Maybe something she was born with that just suddenly came to light. Prayers for her poor family.
