They're just following the John Kerry plan. Not that it's right, but if a few % went in the other direction in the last election, we'd be doing the same thing.

Russia doesn't have good intentions. Their two primary concerns have been to make a lot of money selling weapons, and to stir up trouble against the U.S. This is an attempt to head off or delay a U.S. attack, probably, but I'm sorry to say that Russia cannot be trusted.
Meantime, it will give Iran time to put their Russian supplied air defense missile systems in place.
It's too bad, but Putin is not our friend.
I have never trusted Putin. There was always an aire of hidden agendas about him. He was a KGB officer for a long time, 16 or 17 years if I recall correctly. How can you possibly trust anyone that was former KGB????
Frankly, I don't think Putin's the main problem. The hard liners in the Politboro and the military have lots of influence.

It is the Kerry plan. It was deserving of ridicule then and now.
This plan is nothing but pulling wool over the eyes of the world. Not only are the talks for it delaying tactics to give the mullahs the time to get their bomb, but the actual deal is designed to erode support for any sort of military action (without compromising the ability of Iran to develop its weapon).
Having the talks are bad enough. Coming to agreement is fatal.
Very good analysis. Putin is a product of the Cold War and like many of his generation have World Leader Envy. The Russians don't have our best interest. We need to express very clearly to the Russians that as a nation, we have a sovereign right to defend ourselves.

Putin is an old school commie who continues to try to turn the clock back and pretend his country can still live out the glory days when they were thuging themselves all over eastern europe and Asia.
They can't do it with their military anymore, so now they are going to do it with energy and nuclear technology.
At the time he was a British officer it was the only game in town. Putin has never been a liberator of the russian people just a govt wonk following and now making policy.
Not to mention the smoke screen his people put up to get in the way of the investigators of WMD and removal activities with the Sadamites.
But we shall see ...
I don't know if it's a fair comparison; the British and Communist Russia.
