Apple on Tuesday released an update to Mac OS X Tiger, bringing the current version to 10.4.5. According to Apple the update fixes several applications and technologies including iChat video conferencing and Safari rendering of web pages.
Specifically, Apple's Web browser Safari no longer quits unexpectedly when deleting AOL mail messages via AOL webmail. The update also addresses an issue in which you could not sync with an iDisk larger than 4GB.
Users of Apple's Portable Home Directories will notice that files copied across the network now show up as temporary files until the transfer is complete in case the network connection is interrupted before it is finished.
Epson customers that could not print over Airport Extreme should be able to do so with Mac OS X 10.4.5.
Other changes in the update fixes for the usability of Dashboard and widgets; viewing of QuickTime streaming media behind a firewall; time zone and daylight savings for 2006 and 2007; VPN connections to Cisco servers when using NAT; and compatibility with third party applications and devices. The update also includes previous standalone security updates.
The update is available from the software update control panel in Mac OS X and can be downloaded from Apple's Web site.
Apple 10.4.5 ping
I dumped Safari. Firefox is a whole lot better. Faster, better stability.
I'm still waiting for OS 9.3.
Camino 1.0 was released today. You might see how that works for you. I tend to use it as my backup to Safari.
I like it, too. Clean, fast... doesn't update with .mac, though, sigh...
Thanks, I'm going to give it a shot.
I have no problem with Firefox, and I have used it with no problems.
Ditto Safari. I like the look and feel of Safari better than Firefox, and as long as it isn't giving me problems, I'm happy. I won't be switching.
I will look at Camino, though.
I have had a look at every new browser that has come along, from Webshark on up. Safari is the only one I have really taken to.
Thanks, I'll check it out as a backup. I'm happy with Safari as my browser. :-)
I'd buy a mac, but I'm not gay.
It may be a while...
I have a iMac OSX which I find difficult to use. But I am seriously hetero.
Methinks the Mac Hater doth protest too much.
Really? I wish I had your success . . . Firefox quits on me all the time. And I downloaded that last version (1.5? I think?) and it wouldn't let me download any themes or anything. I kept getting error messages.
I liked FireFox when I first started with it. I hope a later version will work better. If you have any suggestions for what I may be doing wrong, I would greatly appreciate them.
Same here. Main reason being that my on-line banking app doesn't support Safari.
Camino runs fine, I just think it has a rinky dink apperance and feel.
I don't know. Safari always hangs up and I have to force quit after a while. Firefox doesn't do that on my system.
I'll bet my free OSX update that there are more faggots using PC's than Mac's.
Up on 10.4.5...Safari apppears faster.
