Hillary and Real Competition?

Posted on 02/11/2006 12:52:22 AM PST by pepsionice

The New York senate race of 2006 is almost a lost cause for the Republican party. Hillary has set the deck in her favor, and no seems to want a chance to take her on.

TOPICS: US: New York; Your Opinion/Questions
KEYWORDS: hillaryclinton; lancearmstrong
For months...the Republican choice has to run against Hillary has simply been an amusing side story to a an even bigger amusing story of Hillary walking away with the race.

So here now, I propose restacking the deck. Lets bring Lance Armstrong out to New York...get him a farmhouse in upstate Albany area...and start the most unusual senate race of the past 40 years.

Why Lance? Because the guy is genuine and pure. He is intelligent and more than capable of discussing most topics that you can dream up. His eyes can melt a woman's heart. His charisma seeps down even into a liberal's soul. He doesn't make empty promises or offer damned excuses for his life. There are no Vietnam war stories or medals upon his chest. He has no great woes in life. Basically...he is a conservitive. What's he got going right now? Nothing. He isn't going to France this summer. He hasn't got a major job in life lined up other than his foundation and some bike designs.

Lance has time. Lance has stamina. Lance has the ability to stand up to the French press...which makes him more than capable of standing up to the NY Times. He is the next-door neighbor that you'd want. He can carry on an intelligent conversation without using percentages and cost of living tables or national budget woes to cloud your mind.

How would this race proceed? Simply put....Lance mounts his bike on 1 June and rides 10,000 miles around New York state. No buses. No grand parties in Manhatten with million dollar jerks. No $500 plate dinners in Long Island with Wall Street jokers. Lance rides every road and street of the state...with the simple slogan: Ride with Lance. He stops at gas stations and hugs old ladies. He stops in small towns and sips a Gatorade with high school kids. He rides through Central Park with 400 other bikers. He stops, dismounts, and gives a simple 8-minute speech about what he sees. He tells New Yorkers what their state is all about...no million dollar ad's....no hostile tv commericals...no gossip. We take New Yorkers to the mat on pure and real charasma...nothing less.

How does Hillary fight this? She can't. She doesn't have time to waltz through the entire state. The best she can do is visit 50 communities throughout the entire election period. She has to dump millions into ad's to counter Lance...and they have to walk softly not to condemn him...or look foolish like a "french dimwit". Any harsh words from her or her flunkies....simply say "sounds french to me". And New Yorkers will fall on the floor laughing.

The debate? Surely you jest. Hillary can't possibly meet Lance for a debate. Lance would show up smiling...grining ear to ear...and just melt the audience on the spot. Hillary can't smile. She can't offer any humor. She can't argue with a guy who carries the audience in his hands. She will skip the debate and even if she wins the election...she'll face the question in 2008....she wasn't strong enough to argue with Lance Armstrong...why believe she is strong enough now.

What of funding for Lance? Ask yourself...if Lance has a bike and just a van with 5 guys to do bike maintenace, handle interviews and hand out flags...where is the cost? Lance doesn't need tv time or radio ad's. Lance won't need space in the NY Times for chatter. And if he did need funding...then everytime he pulled into a town...just have a ice cream truck and accept donations to Lance's run while eating some old fashion ice cream (remember....old fashion ice cream was pure...no funny ripples or weird tastes).

So, for a brief moment...conjure up this dream fantasy pair. Lance verus Hillary. Hillary already proved that just moving to a state is enough for people to accept you. So Lance has no problem in just moving there and setting the state ablaze with chatter.

Would he run? Doubtful. But you know....Lance has lots of free time and always loves a race where the winner...is the winner. And he knows how to pace himself. So lets all dream a little...and quietly suggest that Lance has another race to run.

Lance's LIBERAL girl friend just dumped him, as he dumped his WIFE and children for her. Get real...your entire post is garbage and ridiculous!

Uh, no.

He hasn't demonstrated any conservative qualities that I can see.

Maybe someone can explain this to me. I hear long Island is Republican Central. Northern New York is heavey Republican. Now how out of all those people there is not one credible person that has a chance to beat Hillary. I mean this isnt California.

Hillary is despised by many in upstate NY and Long island. Spencer can beat her. Still your idea about 5 guys in a van sounds good. Lots of low budget trips throughout the state would give John Spencer plenty of exposure. I'm thinking of street corners, shopping plazas, VFW's etc. The local media would cover this and the personal contacts would be invaluable.

The Hilda beast really can't really meet people in public unless everything is orchestrated. The high disgust factor could create some pretty embarrassing situations

Nothern parts of New York are not heavily populated. My county has a less than 94,000 people. According to the Census Quick Facts we have about 155 people per square mile.

The NY failed to develop a person over the last 6 year that could beat Clinton. The day after she was elected in 2000 the NY GOP should have been working on a plan to defeat her. The same goes for Schumer and Slaughter. They need to be driven from office.

Lance is a bigger liberal than Hillary. Back to the drawing board.

I am puzzled as to why the GOP big shots maneuvered Jeanine Pirro out of the race.

Was Vince Foster getting ready to spill the beans on Hillary, before he met his untimely demise? Is there a statute of limitations on murder, conspiracy to commit murder?

You give me too much credit. I still don't know. Why?

I dont know either. I still cannot fathom why the GOP chose to back pro-choice, liberal, Spectre, as opposed to the real conservative who was running. These wise seers also dumped Mclintock in favor of Arnie..

Why not spend your time and money getting Rudy to run for Hildabeast's Senate seat?

He has zero chance of ever being elected POTUS, but he might win a Senate seat.

As a bonus, he already lives in NY, no need for a carpetbagger.

( Hillary was a "twofer", both a carpet bagger and carpet muncher.)

I agree. I gave him money for his campaign against her. I am from MO. I receive his campaign emails. I am really impressed by him.
I am not surprised that these papers keep saying no one can beat her. They are in her corner.
Even if he can't, he can make her spend alot of that money, so there is not as much for the presidential run.
Hope more people check him out

The fix has been in since Hill first ran.

Both NY and NJ GOPs are corrupt to the core.

I think they are all in cahoots along with the media. They trade favors. When Dole picked Kemp as VP I thought Kemp would go after bj with a sledgehammer. He might as well have been invisible.
Then when hell ran, rudy dropped out and whats his name didnt even try. Now Pierro drops out after being invisible.

The dems are able to get stuff passed that a rep would not be able to and visa versa. The two party system is a joke which sums up politicians in general.
