January 6, 2006 - In early December 2005, Washington Post writer Shankar Vedantam reported on the efforts of UCLA psychology professor Edward Dunbar to encourage the psychiatric community to add "extreme bias" against homosexuals (or ethnic groups) added to the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).
Professor Dunbar is considered an expert on hate crimes and serves as a consultant with the Los Angeles City Police Department, the LA Unified School District and the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center.
The Post article quotes Darrel A. Regier, director of research at the APA who supports research into whether pathological bias is a disorder but wonders if adding it to the DSM would be useful. "If you're going to put racism into the next edition of DSM, you would have enormous criticism." Critics would ask, "'Are you pathologizing all of life? You better be prepared to defend that classification."
Sally Satel, author of PC, M.D.: How Political Correctness Is Corrupting Medicine, calls Dunbar's proposal "absurd" and says such a diagnosis could be used by hate crime perpetrators to escape punishment.
However, Alvin F. Poussaint, professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School agrees with Dunbar and characterizes individuals with extreme bias as "delusional." He notes: "They imagine people are going to do all kinds of bad things and hurt them, and feel they have to do something to protect themselves. When they reach that stage, they are very impaired."
Shama Chaiken, with the California Department of Corrections also agrees with Dunbar. "We treat racism and homophobia as delusional disorders."

Funny (or not so funny) but as a medical professional I remember when Homosexuals were listed in the DSM as a mental disorder. My how times have changed.

And, I thought staying away from heavily infected mentally ill people doing drugs and suicidal, was just common sense.

It indicates a "fear" of sexual perversion. One does not have to "fear" dog crap to not want to play with it, eat it, sexualize it or otherwise oppose and ridicule those that do.
Creatures such as these psycho-babble propagandists, who (feebly) attempt to attack those of us who speak out against moral insanity, do nothing except show the level to which they have sunk in their own personal morals and ethics.
The ignorant will stay so until they learn. Our job is to teach, and do so simply by providing the reality of truth, ethics and the morals which founded this country.
If the sodomites are adverse to these morals, I recommend they move to a more "liberal" locale, such as Canada France, Norway, Netherlands, Spain or Sweden. I'm told that their Socialistic permissive governments are quite willing to tolerate the various psychosis inherent in both sexual psychotics and the lower forms of life which grant them credence.
This ill suggestion by the mentally ill "psychologist" is dependent upon the concept of "fear of homosexuality" being present in any and all who regard homosexuality as not normal, or offensive to their values and/or beliefs, or simply speak out against it for any reason.
It relies upon diminishing social, religious, emotional, moral, objective and even behavioral and scientific resistence to accepting homosexuality in principle as "immutable and normal" as to origin and characterisation.
In my experience, this suggests if not indicates someone who is quite paranoid themself. The "pscyhologist" suggests that he has a social paranoia, if not anti-social personality, in my view.
It's a method to attempt to silence discussion, and worse, to make "ill" religious considerations as to homosexuality.
This is one case of the mentally ill using social science as a means to project disease, of disease imposing upon wellness. Simply put, the psychologist here is not a well person.
When will they learn that being heterosexual is a NORMAL state of mind, being turned off by unusual sexual orientations is NORMAL. If they want to call homosexuality genetically based and they are just born that way; well so is being born heterosexual! And they need to put their HETEROPHOBIA into a mental disorder program.

Check out this link for IAT testing on our bias's and how our UNcounscious does dictate our RESPONSE time to our bias's. Supposedly,even when we intellectually decide, that is NOT true for us, whatever the bias may be...we are STILL biased, because our brain works behind a CLOSED door. We can consciously say we DONT believe in such in such, or we are not racist for example, but take the IAT test and find out, if whats really happening behind the CLOSED door, is saying something different. You will note, that your internal - silent /uncounscious bias's are there, even if you DO NOT believe them, counsciously.
