Judge Alito: The Final Showdown (7 Letters)

To the Editor:

Re "Senators in Need of a Spine" (editorial, Jan. 26):

You write that Democratic senators are in need of a spine to filibuster Judge Samuel A. Alito Jr.'s Supreme Court nomination.............

This is actually a lean day for DU-grade lefties at the NYT - the majority of the letters have a Republican feel or message. However, the two 'We're Doomed' entries from Krajeck and Glitzenstein provide some easily Googled names thanks to their spelling.

Krajeck's low-grade 'poetry' replete with artsy, abrupt broken meter and randomly-separated stanzas can be sampled here:

Poets Against The War

A synopsis of her work here - note misspelling of 'carburetion' in an entry critical (of course) of SUVs and McDonald's (you know, the usual subjects for great lasting art)..:

Synopsis

Glitzenstein appears to be a garden-variety manatee-hugger with the obligatory law degree and a DC office.

If I had written poetry like Ms. Krajeck's in HS, I would have gotten Ds, at most.

"Poets Against the War" my a**. They're a bunch of artistes who think they are smarter than the rest of America. All one needs to see for proof is her poetry. It is dreadful and pretentious. Emily Dickinson wrote poetry. Ms. Krajeck's work is drivel

The guy with the manatees on his mind probably thinks abortion for human babies is just fine. Betcha.

So the only two letters that are pro-filibuster both come from the radical left wing of the liberal movement? That's really sad. They are either imploding or growing up.

here's a resume to be proud of:
(everybody on the left is always some kind of "activist"
WTF is an activist?

Krajeck has 20 years experience with the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in the area of community and economic development, supportive housing and other programs for people with disabilities. She is certified by the National Development Council as an Economic Development Specialist. As a community activist, she participated in the building the Writers' Center of Indiana, Partners in Housing Development Corporation and the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention. She is the recipient of a Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship from the Arts Council of Indianapolis and the author of two chapbooks of poetry. Her work is focused on the impact of politics on day-to-day activities which occur in the space of one's home, neighborhood and imagination
