Judge Samuel A. Alito’s wife Martha left the confirmation hearing room in tears this evening, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) apologized to the Judge’s family for the behavior of his fellow committee members during the course of the last three days.
Sen. Graham said: “Judge Alito, I am sorry that you’ve had to go through this. I am sorry that your family has had to sit here and listen to this.”
Democrats on the Judiciary Committee have attacked Judge Samuel A. Alito over his membership in Concerned Alumni of Princeton and his involvement in the Vanguard case.
One senior Republican in the hearing room said of the situation: “After three full days of attacks against her husband’s character, Mrs. Alito had enough. Democrat behavior during this hearing has not only been wrong, it’s been embarrassing. Ted Kennedy is nothing but a bully.”

Most of the hearings are nothing but a play. Scripted questions, scripted theatrics. Nominees are circumspect in their answers.
Mrs. Alito's tears were not scripted. They were real. That takes us out of the "stage" and focuses attention on the true ugliness and viciousness Democrats have been allowed to direct at Judge Alito. She isn't playing a part in a Play. She's simply there to support her husband.
Everyone can relate and brings the words in the hearing home beyond pure politics.

IMO- it still does not matter. We need to be demanding better behavior out of the politicians, not the people the politicians are attacking.
That is my point. We need to demand better out of the politicians. For too long- we have excused bad behavior and now look how out of control it is.

Good point. How many husbands would have second thoughts about exposing their families from this? Only cold hearted, power-hungry creeps will want to wear those robes if we don't take these creeps to task.
I agree with you. I just watched Mrs. Alito on FoxNews and she was crying at Graham's kind words and apology to her and her family for having to sit through this nightmare via the Dems. I love my husband and we've been married for many years. He's a good, decent man and I really don't think I could watch Ted Kennedy, (particularly Kennedy) et al, tear him apart without standing up and telling them exactly what I think about them, which would probably get me banned from FR.
No That wasn't Biden. Biden was the one who had disqualify himself in a Presidential run because part of one of his speeches was plagerized!!

Sometimes I feel pretty hard boiled, you know? Jaded even. But not tonight.
Alito is not just one man. Alito is a team, a united team. Can people even begin to appreciate the dedication it took the team to get this far? And FOR WHAT? If the rats win and get their way, all that dedication will lead to WHAT? Losing at this point is not an option for them. I hope the Alito Team realizes this. They MUST win!
