I guess that peak oil theory that we will all be using the horse and buggy soon is going to take a hit.

Now if it was found off our coast the liberals would whine and tell us that drilling it would hurt the enviroment.
To: george76
can't drill there sorry...very rare sea algae has been found..if we drill even 500 miles away from it, the universe as we know it may end

According to my math, Brazil runs out of oil in 20 years.
This addition is only a little more than 700 days worth of oil.
ANWAR is much larger! Barbara Boxer is not planning a vacation there anytime soon.

a "huge" oil deposit in Brazil of 700 million barrels, someone remind me what the estimated crude yield is for ANWR

Anwar is 15 times this size, and a few idiot greens are stopping it.

I guess you could say that Brazil is almost self-sufficient in energy. Something the U.S. will never be.

A relative comparison. Under best predictions based on stuff I have read, we could expect some 8-10 billion barrels from the proposed ANWR site. I am sure estimates vary but a few years back figures, the US consumes about 20million barrels of oil per day (that is of course in the form of many refined end products, e.g. gas, lubricants, petrochemicals).
So with no intention of spoiling this news, 700mb. won't last long for the world to eat up, err drink up.
