NEW YORK - The city and state stepped up their pressure on striking transit workers Wednesday in hopes of forcing them back to work, and a judge said sending union leaders to jail was a "distinct possibility."
State Supreme Court Justice Theodore Jones, who is hearing several legal issues related to the strike, directed attorneys from the Transport Workers Union to bring president Roger Toussaint and other top officials before the court Thursday to answer to a criminal contempt charge.
He said he may sentence the union leaders to jail for refusing to end the strike, calling such a scenario a "distinct possibility."
Union lawyer Arthur Schwartz said Toussaint and the other officials are in negotiations with mediators and that hauling them into court could halt the talks.
If it snows, I have a feeling the emergency room will be removing the picket signs from the striker's anal cavities.
The judge should order the strike broken and if that is ignored the union leaders should be jailed for contempt.
Yes fire them all. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to drive a bus, or push a couple buttons to make the doors open on the subway.
One can always hope :)
Well New Yorkers are a feisty bunch.
BWHAHHAA!
These guys are taking a lot of abuse (and rightfully so).
Yeah, lets give their jobs away to people that entered this country illegally, and pay them $6. an hour to do it.
That'll sure show them!
Wait, wait, let me guess...Senator Clinton gets to ride in to broker a great "peacemaker" deal all while Republicans Bloomberg and Pataki are made out to be the villains...
Haven't we seen this cript somewhere else before?!
Yeah!
Listening to Fox News this morning, and to ErrAmerika, it seems NYC has a budget surplus so the union want's it's cut. Basically, it's about no employee contributions to health care or pensions - the same ticking time bomb that has doomed so many other companies and municipalities.

Lets call them?
Personally I think workers should have a right to strike. And the employer should have a right to get new employees. I don't think this thing should even be in court. The judge should have no authority.
You are such an anal sphincter, Max.
