PECHORA-2A UPGRADED SURFACE-TO-AIR MISSILE SYSTEM

PECHORA-2A is a derivative of the S-125M1 PECHORA Surface-to-Air Missile System that proved highly efficient during conflicts in the Middle East, South-East Asia and Africa.

COMBAT ADVANTAGES

The 1998-2002 trials showed the following increase in the system’s combat capabilities: • larger engagment envelope; • greater efficiency in engaging modern targets; • enhanced ECCM capabilities; • automatic tracking in optical/TV channel.

OPERATIONAL ADVANTAGES

50% replacement of analog units of the SAM system by digital equipment based on modern element basis ensures: • longer service life; • better tactical and operating characteristics; • reduced volume and time required for maintenance; • power saving.

Newly incorporated equipment may be used for the VOLGA SAM system modernisation.

BASIC SPECIFICATIONS with 5V27D missile Engagement envelope, km range 3.5 - 2.8*/25 altitude 0.02 - 20*/25 heading parameter up to 24 Max target speed, m/s 700 Target acquisition time, s 2.5 - 3 Min target radar cross section, sq. m 0.05 ECCM capacity, W/MHz 2000 Number of channels during tracking of target/missiles 1/2 Number of missileson the launcher 4 In/Out deployment time 1 h 20 min / 1 h 40 min

Not to worry.

If in fixed site, sitting duck for our JDAMs.
If mobile, turn on radar, and die.

Nice to know our "friends" the Russians are at it again.

Worry,
unit that shot down F-117 hane no losses, and with trained crew it is very much mobile. Missiles can be upgraded with thermovision, and TV guidanance.

Very dangerous missile.
Its radar is old and much harder to detect by moders anti-radar systems.

BS. The hit on the 117 was a lucky shot. They just threw sh#t in the air and got lucky. HARMS can home on old radars just fine. Believe me if we need to get the job done, the Iranians will be blind deaf and dead by the time the strike package is inbound.

Not to downgrade the threat this could pose to US forces, and their allies; these things are only as good as the people that use them, and the tactics they employ. With that said, unless the Russians are going to man and operate these systems, I have a feeling that they are going to be little more than big ole bulls-eyes for US munitions.

Point is that these third world countries, and a lot of first and second ones, look at the US and see our successes, and attribute them to our technological superiority. As a result, they run out and spend their cash on expensive weapons systems. They dismiss the fact, or totally miss it all together, that if it weren't for the professionalism of US forces, and the highly skilled and motivated way they wage war, none of what the US has accomplished would be possible.

Russia can't push the Ukranians around any more, so I guess that they have to feel powerful some way--tinkering around in the MidEast and causing a nuclear war.

Hold on a second, this is a SA-3. First seen in 1959 !!!

You telling us that we should be afraid of an upgraded SA-3 ?

LOL !!!

"50% replacement of analog units of the SAM system by digital equipment based on modern element basis ensures:"

So half the systems are decades old Soviet analog systems.

I'm not impressed. If this is the best they have, screw letting the Israelis loose on them send in the BELGIANS !

strange global economics at work

we buy russia gas/oil through gaz prom

they arm our biggest threats

then they all go to a remote spa to have the group of seven plus russia meeting

how does one get in on that...

they run out and spend their cash on expensive weapons systems....

Just like kids who run out and buy the tennis shoes that NBA athletes wear. It does not make them better basketball players instantly. So too does it take skills, training and dedication to the job to operate these advanced weapons accurately. You can see thier mindset when they fire their AK's.
