Very good news coming out of Iraq. Diane Sawyer seemed sad and shocked to report the hopeful news. I wonder what the White Flag Democrats will say now that one of their cherished MSM outlets is reporting good news from Iraq.

Surprising levels of optimism prevail in Iraq

"Surprising" only to the Dinosaur Media who have stubbornly tuned out every voice warning them their fixation on the Democrat Talking Points about Iraq was going to turn around and bite their credibility right in the butt. Surprise Surprise "News Media" Iraq turns out to be MORE like we have been telling you and not any where NEAR what your Ideological Puppet Masters at the DNC have been telling you.

Surprising levels of optimism prevail in Iraq...

Translation: ABC is surprised (and disappointed) their propaganda hasn't been more effective.

The first sentence set the tone

Surprising levels of optimism prevail in Iraq...

Suprising to whom? Journalists that refuse to see any good coming out of Iraq?

It just had to kill the poor folks at ABC who had to write this story.

This "local/national" split is ENTIRELY due to the world/U.S. news media, which hypes attacks and security issues, whereas in their local areas, people just don't see THAT much "terrorism." The media should be ashamed, but, of course, they aren't.

"Surprising levels of optimism prevail in Iraq with living conditions improved...and expectations for the future high."

Yes, surprising for the so-called "journalists" of the "Mainstream Newsmedia", who for a long time have believed their own propaganda.

If the willingly self-deluded get off with nothing more than suruprise, they're lucky. Such hubris and denial are often far more costly--if you know what I mean.

They're particularly lucky that the American people didn't believe their relentless, unceasing, morally reprehensible propaganda. Had their propaganda been more effective--i.e. had their mendacity been less transparent--the American people could have been dangerously misled.

As it is, the American people have recognized the "Mainstream Newsmedia" as the ignominious Propaganda Machine that it is and have relegated its so-called "journalists" to the level of snake-oil salesmen, con-artists, and other bottom dwellers, somewhere below used car salesmen and ambulance chasing lawyers, where they belong.

After Iraq turns into a huge success, the MSM can do a 5 minute mea culpa, but then move on to more important "news".

There's other evidence of the United States' increasing unpopularity: Two-thirds now oppose the presence of U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq, 14 points higher than in February 2004. Nearly six in 10 disapprove of how the United States has operated in Iraq since the war, and most of them disapprove strongly. And nearly half of Iraqis would like to see U.S. forces leave soon.

Specifically, 26 percent of Iraqis say U.S. and other coalition forces should "leave now" and another 19 percent say they should go after the government chosen in this week's election takes office; that adds to 45 percent. Roughly the other half says coalition forces should remain until security is restored (31 percent), until Iraqi security forces can operate independently (16 percent), or longer (5 percent).

I don't get it. The survey says two-thirds oppose the presence of coalition forces. But then it says that 52% (31%+16%+5%) want coalition forces to remain at least until security is restored, if not longer.

Something doesn't add up here.
