SAN BRUNO, Calif. - A woman who used a butcher knife to beat a Jehovah's Witness who knocked on her door on Christmas Day was sentenced to three months in jail.
Cathy Infusino, 52, was also ordered Thursday to spend three months in a work program and serve three years of probation. She pleaded no contest to assault with a deadly weapon.
Infusino was paranoid and was being harassed by neighbors at the time of the attack, said her lawyer LeRue Grim.
"She wasn't mentally well enough to understand the situation," Grim said. "She thought someone was trying to harm her or hurt her."
The Jehovah's Witness had shown up at Infusino's apartment by mistake and was looking for a neighbor who was interested in the religion. She apologized for the error and tried to leave, but Infusino grabbed her by the hair and pulled her into the apartment.
Grim said Infusino is taking medication now and seeing a psychiatrist regularly.
I'm sorry for laughing. Really.

If you know your stuff, they leave pretty quick.

Most times you have to throw them out or threaten them to get them to leave.
I work from home and we have these two that come around every 4 or 5 months. Always the same two, I always tell them I'm busy and shut the door. The next 4 or 5 months, there they are again.
Someone told me to tell them that I used to be a Jehovah's witness and they'll leave and never bother me again. Apparently former witnesses are "dead to them" or something.
I just never think of it in time. My automatic response now just comes too quick. Open door, see them, say I'm busy, shut door. 1.5 seconds. Done.
My experience has been that if you don't answer the door immediately, they leave. Most of the time they don't even knock, just leave one of their tracts. I theorize that they don't try harder because since only 144,000 are supposed to be saved, any new convert is competition for a slot.
It's a weird cult, and there are quite a few bad things about it, like a propensity for child abuse among some of the leaders. But be that as it may, what this woman did was way out of line, and I'm glad she got the book thrown at her.
From what I've read they are required to get a certain amount of people to order stuff per month or so. An older gentlemen and lady came to my door and asked if I read the Bible. I said "yes" with conviction, and was prepared for whatever they would say next, but they gave me a pamphlet and quickly left. I was very gracious to them, by the way. However, JWs at the DMV were not to happy when I disputed certain things thinhs they were telling a woman there. I asked them when the world was going to end and if looks could kill I'd be toast. I asked the guy if he would recommend his child go to college and he said he had no children. (he was at least in his late 60s) That probably means he was a longtime JW.
I had a sign on the door, "I work night shift, please don't ring doorbell before 4 PM". They did, twice, and left before I could get dressed. The third time, I did not get dressed, just answered the door, I never heard from them again.

When I was growing up, the Mormons and JW's would canvass our neighborhood regularly. My mom would try and convert them. Years later, when I moved back in to take care of her, I saw not one person come knocking at the door spreading the "good news". Hehehe....
OTOH, I don't blame her one bit. They are awfully tough to get rid of once you even acknowledge their presence. And they always seem to come in the crappiest weather and stand out there shivering like a lost puppy so you'll feel sorry for them and invite them in. I don't think so.

I had some of the mutha's knock on my door on 9/11, while my family sat horror struck watching the news. They had just finished working over an elderly neighbor, and decided to bother me. They'll never knock again!!!
If you get on their "route" the best way to discourage them is to chalk an outline of a body (a la crime scene) near your front door.
